I love that Xmas song when done by Carolers: Good King Wenceslaus. I never quite knew how to spell it. Sort of like the name Khadafi. I think Kwanza was invented for the purpose of giving Black people a holiday they could ‘call their own’. I never thought I had to give up Christmas, and still haven’t.

Some folks like to patronize cultural things that appear to be fashioned just for them, at the exclusion of other races. This was invented by Maulana Karanga and others around 1965. Kwanzaa takes it’s name from the Swahili word for “first fruits of the harvest”. It’s a week long ceremony based on the ‘seven principles of African Heritage’

Black people are about 13% of the U.S. population. If 13% of the population maintained their normal levels of consumer spending during the year-end consumer blitz season, that might affect the profitability of a few stores that either are located in majority-black areas or market to black consumers directly - "urban" clothing, for example.
