NATO Caught ‘Surprised’ By Russia’s Move Into Syria

When Russia sent military forces into Syria last weekend, it caught NATO by surprise and proved that its members can neither stay ahead of threats nor even decide which ones are the most pressing, the alliance’s intelligence director said.
“Are we keeping up with threats?…Absolutely not,” said U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Brett Heimbigner Thursday. “The demands for intelligence… to accurately deal with some of these crises is clearly insufficient.”
Heimbigner’s latest frustration: “From an alliance perspective, what Russia is doing and the ability of Russia to surprise us on a very consistent basis.”
“We were able to get some warning, but did not see from a strategic perspective that one, necessarily, coming until just a couple days ago,” he said, speaking at the Intelligence and National Security Summit in Washington, D.C. Defense One is a media sponsor of the event, which is held by AFCEA International and the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, or INSA.

That's what happened with 911. From the Cape Cod AFB, the pilots on duty were on standby, not in the air. Someone told me (the wife of a pilot) that it took 15 minutes to get them airborne. Then there was the speculation that a tickettaker at Logan thought it was odd that five mid-eastern men were getting on a plane with one-way tickets and no baggage. Her manager told her not to be concerned. (strong rumor, a few days after 911)
Nobody's walked into Europe with a bomb they've exploded yet, so the out-of-touch elitists think it can't happen. Meanwhile NATO countries merrily dismantle civilization where-ever they please. And that mess in Kiev? NATO and member countries have armed, financed, and trained Nazis to fight their war there. Now those same Nazi-types are mad as hell because they're being pushed out of power.
Somebody should read a book about How Civilizations Fail. Instead, they're writing one.
Intelligence is only is good if people in power bother to read the reports, even those that doesn't fit their narrative. If these clowns used a little common sense they would expect Putin to protect Russian interests in Syria.

They were too busy attempting to make the military a social experiment with gays, transsexuals women in combat and on a which hunt to go after real Generals and Admirals that would never betray our Republic.

Anyone who was surprised by this must have been asleep for the last sixty years. The USSR and then the Russian Federation have been the Assad dynasty’s foundation of support since the sixties. If and when (meaning now) Assad would look to be in real danger of being overthrown it was fully predictable that Russia would take serious steps to rescue him. And the vacuum created by American weakness and Obama/Clinton/Kerry incompetence makes the move beyond tempting.
Russia is just expanding their influence. War zones are a perfect place to expand if you have the ability to defeat either side. Question is...which side does Putin want to defeat?
