Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said that while it was too bad Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis was put in jail over her refusal to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples, people have to abide by the Supreme Court's ruling on the matter.
"Well, you know, she was released and that was good, and it was too bad that she had to be put in jail, and I'm a very, very strong believer in Christianity and religion, but I will say that this was not the right job for her," Mr. Trump said on Tuesday evening's "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News. ...
"Because we had a ruling from the Supreme Court and we are a country of laws and you have to do what the Supreme Court ultimately, whether you like the decision or not, and it was a 5-4 decision, whether you like the decision or not, you have to go along with the Supreme Court" Mr. Trump said. "That's the way it is." ...

1.) Kim Davis has a right to her religious objections and taking a stand as a conscientious objector (or a quasi form of this) always carries some sort of price tag.
2.) The arguments in favor of gay marriage can be used in favor of consenting-adult polygamy.
3.) Religious objections on one issue can open the door to religious objections on other issues, such a religious person(s) refusing to issue gun licenses on religious grounds, or a religious person refusing to issue marriage licenses to people who have divorced and seek to remarry (regardless of if they have "found the Lord" after doing so) as the person issuing the license can say that the scriptures allow no opening at all - scriptures have been interpreted in innumerable ways throughout the centuries.
As history has shown, the path to religious sectarianism is always there... Look no further than the Act of 1401, then an attempt with the Ten Articles only to be followed by the Six Articles only to be followed by the Forty-Two Articles and then followed by Thirty-Nine Articles. Whew.
Catholicism countered by Protestant moves, followed by Catholic countermoves (Mary I)...
Move followed by counter-moves, excommunications, attempts at consolidation or terms of appeasement and on and on...
Trump, like Icarus, is beginning to shed feathers.
But Gavin Newsom breaking the law was okay.
A lesbian judge discriminating was okay.
Sorry DT. You’re wrong!
It was the perfect job for Kim Davis.
She knows what marriage really is all about.
You’re fired, DT.
Another reason why I cannot support Trump.
Donald Trump, liberal.
We told them so.
And told them.
And TOLD THEM.
She is actually the only one standing up for the law. It is the judge that is throwing out the law and imposing his own in its place.
I wonder if The Donald will be treated differently than Kasich or Bush was treated on this...
you know the answer on that one....
She should, she has been married 4 times. Maybe she’ll get it right this time. One can only hope.
Trump already lost my vote on his being wrong on this critical issue.
So now he doubles down on being stupid and wrong?
Ah well. He’s now pandering to leftists, liberals and moderates.
One can count a dog’s tail as a leg all day long. You can pass a law that a dog’s tail is a leg. The dog’s tail is still not a leg. QED.
Messenger duly shot. Feel better?
Yes. He’s a good “liberal.”
Naw, I don’t really mean to bash her - I believed this all happened before she was a Christian. It’s just that the OP delights in posting her anti-Trump articles. It has nothing to do with Kim actually - just being snarky.
[ “That’s the way it is.” ...]
Why am I getting a little queasy feeling in my stomach about Trump.
I hope it’s just something I ate.
Well, no one is perfect. Her personal life was far from perfect. And so is mine. So I will not cast stones at her.
But she could not bring herself to condone the farce of same sex “marriage”. That puts her on the same level as Rosa Parks as far as I am concerned.
I know it’s asking for too much, but I think DT should for once keep his big trap closed for a change.
Me on Donald Trump as President: 'This is not the right job for him'
For me, Kim Davis and Planned Parenthood are important litmus tests.
If you won’t stand up against a runaway court, we need to know that now. If you don’t understand the constitution or natural law, we need to know that now.
And if you can’t be roused to speak up against decapitating babies and selling the heads, we need to know that now. Oh yes, I know Trump was shocked when he heard what they were doing but he wasn’t prepared to do anything to shut off their money. But this seems pretty basic to me.
I agree.
