Revolt: Boehner delays House vote .. Update: New GOP plan in the works

Today’s vote has now been delayed and the House GOP caucus will meet at 4 p.m. to find a way forward because John Boehner once again miscalculated the degree of support he had in his own caucus

.Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus are demanding that the Obama administration send side deals between Iran and international nuclear inspectors to Congress as part of the Iran deal now under consideration. Opponents of the deal have argued that the clock on congressional consideration of the deal has not even begun until these side deals are submitted.

Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) has offered a resolution that would prevent a vote on the Iran deal until all of the documents of the international agreement — including the deals between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are provided to Congress for review.

Update: The new plan, allegedly:

If I’m reading that correctly, they’re essentially going to turn McCarthy’s point into a matter of mere symbolism — i.e. “yes, Obama didn’t comply with the Corker bill by submitting all elements of the agreement, but we’re going to go ahead and vote on it anyway.” McCarthy’s strategy is designed, I thought, to stop this process in its tracks before the GOP’s resolution dies in the Senate. Instead it’s being treated as a minor hiccup, something that can be footnoted as the original plan to vote this week is carried out.

Andrew McCarthy has a good article on all of this Corker deal, Iran mess (article at link). It’s not a compact summary, but it does a good job of laying it all out:

Obama’s Iran Deal Is Still Far from Settled
The review process under the Corker law never began — by the law’s own terms.

I don’t get that either. Critics have had 60 days to build this argument that the full deal hasn’t been properly submitted to Congress for consideration and it took Andy McCarthy nudging them the weekend before debate is set to begin in September to get their act together and pound that point?

BS. Obama has had 60 days to comply with what is clearly required of him in the Corker bill. Why are Peter King and Allahpundit trying to twist the situation around and blame the conservatives in Congress for not kicking and screaming loud enough to force Obama to do what the law required of him?

Obama and Kerry seem to be hellbent on helping Iran destroy Israel. One way or another they are determined to get the 150 billion to them and allow them to nuke up. Congress is just an inconvenience at this point and will be brushed aside by this tyrannical Obama regime.

Have some people learned nothing even after watching Obama for 7 years?

1. The Senate is going to vote and the Dems will filibuster. That will succeed so the bill will never be sent to Obama.

Since the deal contains money for Iran, any debate of the deal should be declared part of appropriations and thus subject to reconciliation.

Wasn’t one of obamas promises during his first election campaign, “every bill will be televised on CSPAN so every American can know what is in it”?

There are no appropriations involved. The $150 billion is the value of Iran's frozen assets.

With proper timing, Agent Orange will be down the hall, kicking cans. The new Speaker will announce:

1) after careful consideration, the plan submitted by the white hut qualifies as a treaty;
2) the House has no intention of encroaching on the Constitutional duties of the Senate;
3) there will be no vote.

These mongrels are such quislings. They are traitors to their oaths and to their electorate. I do hope they all lose and that Justice finds them.

El-presidente is not going to be jacked around, he will do what he wants regardless of congressional approval or disapproval. Congress made itself impudent and now must live with the consequences for the remainder of this regime IF-IF they are lucky. Future administrations now have the playbook, just ignore congress because they will not shut the government down and reign in the judiciary or executive branches.

They MAY destroy the country they were elected to serve.

They WILL face ultimate justice, if no other.

2. If the House fails to vote due to the failure of Obama to provide the full text of the Side Deals then the bill also fails to go Obama but is somehow magically Null and Void and we have a “victory”.

Wrong, if the Senate does not vote the deal stands as Obama negotiated it. That is the treachery that our GOPe conspired to carry out. It matters not one whit what the Senate does the agreement is made.

The Senate could regain some power by declaring the deal a Treaty, which it is, but Mitch went to so much trouble already to say that it wasn't, there is no way he will pull that off.
