Sowell: I Like Walker and Jindal the Most Out of the GOP Field
Breitbart Big TV ^ | 9-8-15 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 09/08/2015 10:59:05 PM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Hoover Institution Senior Fellow and author of “Wealth, Poverty and Politics: An International Perspective,” Thomas Sowell said that he likes Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal the most out of all the candidates in the GOP field on Tuesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

When asked if there were any Republican presidential candidates that “grabs your attention the most, that you like the most?” Sowell answered, “I guess there are two. Governor Scott Walker, and Governor Bobby Jindal. And my main reason is that they have — they are people who have done things, and have had to take the responsibility for the consequences.”

Earlier, Sowell stated, “What’s painfully tragic already, and it’s going to get worse if it continues, is this notion that only black lives matter, because black lives are the ones that are being lost, more so than any other lives, in this great crusade against the police. Just the number of blacks killed, additionally, compared to last year, in Baltimore alone, is up by some amount far greater than the number of policemen killed.” And “about a decade ago, Heather MacDonald did a book called ‘Are Cops Racist?’ And she points out that after the demagogues come out, and they start trashing the police, and so on, the police pull back, and the net result is the criminal element then has a freer hand, and more blacks will be killed, than there were before. So I don’t know why you would keep going down that same road, when it produces these same results, again and again.”

Sowell also said the Black Lives Matter movement is “a movement which has its desire to have power and prominence, and logic doesn’t mean much to them... I’m afraid that no lives really matter very much...

Both good men, that is true.

But at this point in time we need a wrecking ball of a man to rescue this nation.

There is no time left to play games. This election is the last chance to save our republic.

If the immigration mess is not fixed and fixed quickly...we are doomed!

Trump/Cruz or lose our republic!

I love Sowell and also Walter Williams. Two guys I’d vote for, for President.

They are both solid conservative intellectuals and know what they are talking about.

IOW, Trump is the only competent one, but you prefer the less competent one to be your President.

September 2, 2016, Sowell: Sorting out the candidates

"....Governors with superb records -- such as Bobby Jindal in Louisiana and Scott Walker in Wisconsin -- may not have much name recognition on the national scene. And certainly the little sound bites in the so-called “debates” are not likely to tell the voters much.

This is not just the candidates’ problem. With this country facing historic dangers, both internally and internationally, we urgently need to find someone with depth, insight, and courage as the next president of the United States.

But, with the media obsessed with Donald Trump’s show biz talents and persona -- and covering everything he says, does, or might do, 24/7 -- how are the voters to sort through the large number of Republican candidates to find a couple that are worth getting to know more thoroughly?

It will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. And never was finding that needle, the right leader, more important for the nation.

Internally, we are so polarized over immigration that our current “leaders” have left our borders wide open to terrorists from around the world, rather than take the political risks of offending voters on one side of this issue or offending voters on the opposite side. Instead, they risk American lives by their inaction.

Internationally, our “leaders” have written a blank check for our most dangerous and fanatical enemy -- Iran -- to get both nuclear bombs and the missiles to deliver them. And the Obama administration, with a track record of huge shameless lies, offers us its reassurances.

We had better find that needle in a haystack, someone who can salvage a desperate situation. Flamboyant rhetoric is not enough."

something about the way you use that word “competent” gives me pause.

those individuals who can “make the trains run on time” have an undeniable attraction to those who lack a certain patience with life and human nature, but historically there has been a dark side...

You are right. 17 candidates, now maybe Romney AGAIN.. (nausea)

Who/where is our core guy? Principles, electability... Total chaos on this.

So much $money wasted by FReepers in the past. Now big money/estab money dominates and controls.

jBush\e was well skewered by Colbert.

Yes, because candidates who've consistently run 25% ahead of everyone else in the primary always give up and call it quits before election day.

Good grief. That kind of thinking is akin to really really believing in Hope&Change.
