Jeb Bush is still the GOP establishment favorite, with loads of campaign cash and a top-notch political organization.
But he certainly doesn’t have the same air of inevitability that Mitt Romney had in 2012.
Even some of Bush’s biggest fans in the Beltway are privately wondering whether the former Florida governor has what it takes to out-muscle current frontrunner Donald Trump and emerge next summer with the GOP presidential nomination in hand. Bush is still grappling with the legacies of his brother and father, two former presidents, in a year where voters are rallying behind outsiders. The 17-candidate GOP field is much larger and stronger than what Romney faced in 2012, with popular sitting governors and senators challenging Bush in the polls.
And instead of directing all his fire at Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Bush has had to go mano a mano with Trump, the hotel mogul who's attacked the Spanish-speaking Bush as soft on immigration.
“I do think he has a shot at pulling off the nomination, and I think he is probably one of the [top] candidates best equipped to actually govern if he is elected,” said a top GOP lobbyist in Washington of Bush. “But due to factors such as these, I’m not sure you can view his nomination as an inevitability — at least not in the same way many viewed Romney as inevitable four years ago.”
One longtime Bush family friend was even more blunt when asked to compare Jeb and Mitt.
“Jeb is not Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney used his inevitability as a tactical weapon. He was very effective at conveying inevitability without seeming arrogant,” said the family friend. “It is very clear that Jeb, so far, has not created any sense of inevitability.

I guess Americans just aren’t interested in electing a “Joyful Turtle” to lead them.
Yebbie was only inevitable because the left wing media wanted him because he was guaranteed to lose. The media would still be plugging him, but mean old Trump has them distracted
Yet they still appear to be devising a way to get their "chosen one" Jebbie the nomination?
Are they tone deaf? Are they just looking to elect another Democrat in 2016? Don't they understand that another Bush has almost zero appeal with the rank and file Republican?
It's at the point now where I think they hold the people in utter contempt. We've given them control of Congress and they have yet to do anything conservative. They continue to give us presidential nominees who are not only not conservative but awful candidates.

the race with fake conservatives and RINO’s.(except Cruz)
It has backfired on them big time.
Nicest way of saying it: Jeb’s policies are simply not what the country needs now.
Good point. Neither front-runners have ever held an elected office - that is a signal we are sick of the GOPe ineffectiveness.
This year they thought they could finally break free of them and compete with the democrats for the voters they believe really matter.
Its looking like they were a bit premature.
Under no circumstances will I ever vote for an establishment candidate again.

The “logic” about Romney was he would win NH, MI, FL and NV.
It wasn’t even close.
Right now, Jeb wouldn’t even win FL.
If America needs a mexican president, then he should be a real mexican not an impersonator. We already have a fake black _resident who came out of a white woman’s womb...or so they say.
If I wanted to vote for a mexican president, I’d move to mexico.
It continues to amaze me that these big-money donors don’t realize the simple truth: Jeb Bush is simply a bad candidate. They should have realized, for starters, that nobody wants three members of the same family being President. It’s ridiculous right off the top. They should also have realized, very early, that Jeb just doesn’t have the personality to put himself above the herd. There is no reason to vote for him except as a last resort, a vote against someone even worse.
It’s ONLY the media that keeps Jeb propped up, and that’s because he has lots of advertising dollars, and they want them before he fizzles out. The media relies on political advertising to fatten their dwindling coffers — especially since in most cases political advertising has to be paid for UP FRONT.
And here we let the media host debates and form the narrative. It’s a MASSIVE conflict of interest we don’t talk enough about.
