To Get Back at Obama, There’s a Petition to Name an Ohio Mountain After Sarah Palin

To get back at President Obama for renaming a mountain that used to be named after a U.S. president from Ohio, there’s a petition to rename a mountain in Ohio after Sarah Palin.

No, seriously.

Earlier this week the president decided to rename Mount McKinley to Denali because 1) that was its original name, 2) the state of Alaska has recognized it as such for a while, and 3) President William McKinley had absolutely nothing to do with it.

That didn’t stop Republicans from criticizing the move, and now there is a petition on the White House website to get back at Obama by having an Ohio mountain named for Palin:

We propose to change the name of Campbell Hill to honor Alaska’s most famous governor, Sarah Palin.

If the people of Ohio feel it is their right to name Alaska’s highest mountain, then it would only be fitting for Alaska to rename Ohio’s highest peak.

Sarah Palin tried to rename the mountain Denali almost a decade ago.

These white house petitions are an absolute waste of time anyway.

Its not a legitimate means of governance and Obama has just used it to claim support for what he wants. The next president needs to cut off the funds for it and fire any administrators of it. Then he can explain the legitimate constitutional means of petitioning government.

I could find no reference to that.....could you provide a credible source, please?

“Denali” was Palin’s Secret Service codename.

If you really want to stick a burr under his saddle, rename the park where Denali is located.

Palin National Forest.

Has a nice ring to it.

‘Good luck finding a real mountain in Ohio’

As I recall the highest point in the Buckeye State is something like 700 feet above sea level.

With a 1550 foot altitude and a final ascent from the base camp in nearby Bellefontaine of nearly 200 feet, even experienced climbers will need oxygen tanks.

I don’t remember exactly when but Sarah Palin did want the mountain to be formally named Denali.

Directing this at Ohio is off the mark, they had nothing to do with Obama’s action.

The right thing to do is to rename everything that was named for Obama (schools, roads, etc.) to be named for McKinley.

Start a petition in each community around the country that is now burdened with having something named after a hugely failed President Obama. Remove the stain from each community’s reputation.
