Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker called for a reasonable accommodation that would allow a Kentucky county clerk ordered to jail Thursday in contempt of court to freely practice her religion.
A federal judge ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis jailed until she complies with a courts ruling to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis has refused, saying that would violate her Christian beliefs.
The bottom line in America is we are a nation of laws, the Wisconsin governor told TheBlaze. But part of those laws in fact, the most important of those laws is the Constitution. The Constitution is very clear about protecting freedom of religion, and the freedom to be able to practice religious beliefs in this country. I think its incredibly important those rights be protected in todays society.

For Gov. Scott Walker, this means that the focus has now shifted to religious liberties.
The Wisconsin governor explained on Meet the Press Sunday to host Chuck Todd his past comments on the issue. Back in 2014, he said the debate is over, with regards to his state.
It was over in terms of our legal options. We had no other option other than waiting to see what the Supreme Court did. If Id said anything differently, Id be misguiding the people of Wisconsin. There was no other option for the state of Wisconsin.
But on the national level, Walker said, there are things the next president should do.
The most immediate thing the next president should be Ill certainly be involved in, is protecting peoples religious liberties, he said.
He spoke of how religious liberty is something thats inherent in the constitution and is part of the Bill of Rights.
Well, that means you have to have that balance up. That means making sure that we uphold the constitution, which says you have the freedom of religion. Not freedom from religion, the freedom of religion. And that means, Ill just speak about it, our Justice Department, our I.R.S. and others out there, will uphold that.
Walkers position seems like a safe and smart one.
Same-sex marriage is now the law of the land, regardless of Walkers view or anyone elses. But that does not mean the Supreme Courts interpretation of marriage should trump the religious liberties of Americans.
In fact, support for religious liberty has actually increased following the Supreme Court ruling.
“The Supreme Court ruled in June that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states.
Walker said there should be a way to balance the right to practice religious beliefs and yet uphold the law.”
Is he saying that the SC made a law? I may have missed it but since when is that how it works? I was under the impression that state legislatures and the Congress does that?
Scott is showing a jaw dropping lack of knowledge of the Constitution and separation of powers.
Forcing people to join in the activities of sexual deviants is wrong. The deviants can shop around for services just like the rest of us.
The Supreme Court ruled on it earlier in Wisconsin too.
October 2014: Gay marriages to resume in Wisconsin as Supreme Court rejects appeals
I realize you have another candidate you are stumping for.
Cruz, is it?
Forcing people to join in the activities of sexual deviants is wrong.

Let me add that, it can and should be changed. Since it cannot be changed, with the current incompetents controlling the fed. gov., perhaps it’s time for conservative leaning states to start asserting state’s rights. Like a few states has done concerning defunding of the planned parenthood abortion industry.
Is he saying that the SC made a law?

They claim to be “interpreting the constitution”, we both know what a crock that is.
From what I understand, the SICK logic is that somewhere in the constitution something is interpreted to mean gays must be allowed to marry?!?!!
Court basically said that and decided denying gay marriage was unconstitutional.
Unfortunately, opinions of majority have been brainwashed to think the gay lifesytle is Neil Patrick Harris dancing during an awards show.
They forget the rampant venereal disease that strikes many of them, the sexual acts they are fond of that are much more disturbing than the bad enough obvious ones, and a whole lot more. Throw in the severe depression and mental illness that is higher than the national average.
But that’s semantics. /s
reasonable my ass. there’s nothing reasonable about deviant people. Cut them no slack
The Supreme Court cannot legislate. They can declare all they want, but it does not make it a LAW!
They need to have a convention of all of the coexist people. They can burn her at the stake
A law totally made up by five men in robes?
Your 2012 Perry slip is showing.
Just what we want. Another wobbly president.
Gov. Walker is showing his love for the Constitution. He’s arguing in favor of religious liberty.

Yep, if only she were breaking some ‘bad’ law like allowing illegals in or pushing birth control or abortions against the law. Then she’d get her own television show.
Walker faced down the public unions in Wisconsin. The public unions which are the greatest threat to American liberty hate him.
Since I am fluent in English and read the article let me translate it into FReeper for you: Walker = good.
So where is it that “reasonable accommodation” appears in defining our laws in the Constitution?
Reasonable accommodation for the 1st? 2nd? 4th? and 10th? Bullhockey! Reasonable accommodation is quisling speak. Reagan preached painting in bold colors, not shades of grey.
Images of the entire priesthood being shackled and hauled off to prison.
I guess the FEMA camps will have a purpose.
