I was under the impression she was a deputy clerk, as I read where several other clerks in her position agreed to issue such licenses. If I am wrong about her position, I appreciate your clarification.

If she is the only person who issues such licenses, this is a different problem. I’ll need to do some research in order to give an informed opinion, altho legally the problem is not really different from the clerk or judge who refuses to sign/deliver a death warrant in a capital case.

Thank you for your post.

We have a long history in this country of civil disobedience, but those who take this route are going to be arrested and otherwise put through a lot of stress. The nature of the issue is irrelevant,

It’s my understanding that she won’t allow the clerks who report to her to issue licenses, either. If that is true, then the way I see it is that she has moved from refusing to violate her personal beliefs to forcing others to abide by those beliefs, too. Can’t say as I could get behind that.

Kim Davis Christian Martyr put in jail by an unjust judge for obeying God. —Whatever became of the States Bill of Rights Section 5— No human authority shall in any case whatever control or interfere with the rights of conscience.” ? whatever happened to Article VI of the US Constitution ? I simply do NOT see “marriage anywhere in the US Constitution—nor in the Amendments—and NO power whatever granted the supreme Court to change the Constitution —or to invent new rights— Judge David bunning reminds me of those North Vietnamese Prison Guards -who kept saying the American POW had religious freedom— they just got beat/or tortured every time they sang a Christian hymn— or cited a verse from the Bible— or prayed— or spoke to anyone about their faith— a lot like Kentucky today —eh? Or how about Virginia when Thomas Jefferson and James Madison refused to submit their rights of conscience to judges like Bunning?

This really is an “Onward Christian Soldiers” march on Washington moment.

It’s not that we are going down. We are going down without a fight. That’s what upsets me the most.

She is *the* county clerk - she is the elected executive in charge of the office with all of the authority.

No, they can actually get them from any other county clerk’s office statewide - unless one of the parties is under 18, you don’t have to get them in the county of residence. They have 120 to choose from. Supposedly they are now okay with having her deputies issue them (which is not allowed by statute from what I can see), which makes no sense as they weren’t okay with just getting them from another county clerk and pushed to get this lady thrown into prison. Even if you believe she’s wrong, that’s hardly worth going through all of this when there is an easy alternative. Something else is going on that has nothing to do with marriage licenses. Someone got wind that she was not comfortable with doing so and she was targeted is the only thing I can think of to try to make some sense out of what they were doing.

Thank God for Cruz. If he really wants to move up in the polls he should start an all effort to have her freed. Pressure the courts and judges. Make their lives living hell as the media and gay activists have made Kim’s life living hell.

They didn’t want her thrown in prison. They want her life destroyed financially

The shaker and the turdle glow in their accomplishments.

I suggest, prostulatin’ in front of family and friends as great accomplishments when history has you pegged for traitor, dooms their aires to a festering scorn and ridicule.

Mansion tour: “This was master Grizwald’s great uncle Mitch McConnell, Senate leader of the United States and second worst traitor this nation has ever known.”

Cruz is right on the argument but wrong on the quote when he says, “This is not America.” It truly is and will remain so.

Every time I think of, or hear about this mockery of American justice, I start thinking about the hymn: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus ye soldiers of the cross, wave high his royal banner, it shall not suffer loss.

Sadly it's the homosexuals that have been advancing "from victory unto victory,' without one single set-back in their quest for a "QUEER NATION!"

Is no one but this wonderful woman willing to stand for the RIGHT???

Where is the "righteous indignation" to confront this obamanation???

because liberals and homosexuals are never guilty- only Christians and conservatives break the law- I thought everyone knew that?

I understand your position, but in the real world “the law” is ultimately what the Supreme Court says it is, and the executive branch ( i.e. the Federal Marshall) will execute those judicial commands.

Let’s focus on winning the next battle - the one for religious freedom for the church, the baker, and others similarly situated. This is a winnable battle.

From what I just read, they’re issuing licenses with her signature, or a stamp. I’m guessing she has to sign all the marriage licenses (pretty strange, if true), which is why she wouldn’t let any other clerks in her office do it.
