As Gov. Scott Walker faced ridicule Monday for calling the building of a wall on the Canadian border a legitimate issue, his presidential campaign said he isnt pushing for the idea.
Despite the attempts of some to put words in his mouth, Gov. Walker wasnt advocating for a wall along our northern border, Walker spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement.
The campaign responded after Walkers comment was widely mocked, from a Democratic senator calling it one of the craziest ideas of the campaign so far to fellow GOP presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, saying building a Canadian wall is a pretty dumb idea and a ridiculous notion in an interview on Boston Herald Radio.
Walkers comments came during a recorded 30-minute interview Saturday with NBCs Meet the Press host Chuck Todd that was posted online Sunday.
Do you want to build a wall north of here too? Todd asked, noting that Walker has talked about building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to deter terrorism in addition to illegal immigration.
Some people have asked us about that in New Hampshire, Walker replied. They raised some very legitimate concerns, including some law enforcement folks that brought that up to me at one of our town hall meetings about a week and a half ago. So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at.

This is the same tactic used when Walker was at the Iowa fair and asked about "anchor babies."
Headline "news" is used to assail a candidate.
It appears that the media interprets Walkers answer to a question, then writes their own misleading headline.
Then they say he's clarified it (the medias "mistake").
Then the story becomes that Walker changed his mind.
Interesting how that works.
Scott Walker clarifies widely mocked comments on Canadian “wall”.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
My personal preference as to walls is since we can’t nuke DC, we build a wall around it and the clowns can run their circus night and day as long as they have zero input into how Americans live their lives.
I’ve heard that same idea floated for California.
Yes, but it is sorta late, the surrounding states are already infested with California’s detritus, but one less Californian in Arizona, sign me up.
Yes - they migrated into Arizona, Oregon, Washington, etc...
WASHINGTON Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker took heat from both sides of the aisle on Monday for saying it’s “legitimate” to discuss building a fence along the U.S.-Canada border.
The Republican presidential candidate made the comments in an extended interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” posted online a day earlier. Asked about the possibility of a northern border wall, Walker said people in New Hampshire have brought that up with him.
They have raised some very legitimate concerns, including some law enforcement folks that brought that up to me at one of our town hall meetings about a week and a half ago, Walker said. So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at.
At first, the jabs came from Democrats. But soon, Walkers Republican rivals started to pile on. ..................”
Earlier I watched a video of Dr. Carson’s speech in Phoenix, AZ, and he mentioned a wall or fence along the northern border too. Not only that, but he said we should secure our east and west coasts as well. People are pouring in from all sides I guess.
Was that one of Georgie Will’s wife’s ideas?
Pray America is waking
I pray you learn how to read.
Perhaps you can pray you get a sense of humor?
" ...And, for the partys top donors, who hear pleas from all corners, its more than some of these other candidates have for a path to victory, says a GOP strategist familiar with Cruzs pitch. As for those dreaded consultants the senator so often maligns, hes not beyond their reach.
The Cruz campaign has paid Axiom Strategies, the consulting firm owned by Cruzs campaign manager, Jeff Roe, about $30,000 a month. A spokesman for the campaign says that fee covers Roes salary as well as those of three other campaign staffers. J2 Strategic Communications, the firm established by Cruzs senior adviser, Jason Johnson, is also paid $20,000 a month for campaign work, which a Cruz spokesman says is the closest their operation comes to a traditional campaign-consultant relationship.
One of Roes former clients was former Texas lieutenant governor David Dewhurst, the establishment candidate defeated in a 2012 Senate bid by political upstart Ted Cruz.
Thats how quickly friends of the Republican establishment can become foes, and vice versa. Now, Cruz is hoping for a similar transformation if he manages to make his renegade brand that of the Republican standard-bearer. Source
Imagine what Georgie Will would say if Trump had said that and because it is his wife’s candidate, silence. Ain’t DC wonderful!
You make no sense.
Let me type real slow so even you can understand. George Will is a shill for Scott Walker because his wife runs Walker’s campaign.
George Will is corrupt. Now do you understand?
I understand that you are a good “pretzel maker” (and all your talk about praying, when you find it so easy to malign people).

Must stink to have to support liberals like Georgie Will, but I guess that comes with the territory of pushing a candidate. Some of us left the GOP for that very reason.
Guess a little DC corruption is ok if it benefits your candidate. I like Walker and most do, but he should not hire Will’s wife.
Where did you take instructions on idiocy posting?
Now you have me supporting a “liberal like George Will” because “I’m pushing a candidate.”
But you have no problem with anti-Walker posting to advance Cruz while ignoring his hires.
Interesting.
