Gun Sales Rise After Tragedy

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Two journalists, shot and killed during a live news report in Virginia. Vigils around the country are taking place for Alison Parker and Adam Ward.
In the wake of these shootings comes the same questions. Why does this happen? What can be done?
But there is one consistent reaction: an increase in gun sales.
Gun and ammunition stores have seen a boost in business in recent years. The reason, one store owner said, is whenever a shooting tragedy happens, there's a renewed national debate on gun control
That debate, the gun shop owner said, leads to increased sales. The debate is to add stricter regulations or just enforce the laws on the books.

Gotta admit, this has me thinking about a purchase when in fact I am already over my limit for the year.

Your personal limit or a government one?

I’m already over my limit for life...oh well. There is still room for another.

Personal limit. This year, I have spent about $7000 on guns and ammo. Was hoping to spend money on other diversions, but if this gun grabbing nonsense keeps up, I may have to pull in purchases and buy that Sig AR in 300 Blackout that I was planning on buying next year (to go with the SilencerCo Specwar762 suppressor currently in the works).

I didn’t buy another gun, but do have another 100 rounds of Federal 12 gauge LE truball rifled slugs on order to feed my Mossberg 930 SPX.

to go with the SilencerCo Specwar762 suppressor currently in the works How timely.
We just bought 20 acres to retire on and I'm in the market for a good suppressor for my Remington AAC-SD .308 - just want to be neighborly while I'm out blasting away on the private range...
Research indicates the AAC Cyclone is a good unit (budget is $1K with stamp).
Am I missing anything? Will be going through the Silencer Shop in Austin - I guess anything they don't have in stock can be ordered for a little $$ more.

The libs will never figure this out despite their jumping to conclusion that it is the gun that caused these horrendous events. I’m over my current limit this year too. Need another safe.

Debate nothing, Obama is a gun-grabber looking for any excuse to ban guns! The two gun shops I frequent have had a picture of Obama in a frame marked "salesman of the month" for the last six and a half years running!

Eventually, when terrorist cells start attacking, the numbers from mass murders committed by terrorists will be much higher than what we’ve seen from homosexual/homocidal, fatherless maniacs. Activating terrorists will run the murder statistics even higher, if any class of Americans is not well armed.

My son just bought a Franklin Arms AR in .300 Black. Beautiful gun!
If you still have room in your gun safe or ammo stowage locker by now, you haven’t been paying attention.

My local shop was touting a SilencerCo model in 7.62 that has a changeable endcap (suitable for 30 cal or 22 cal) and adapters that allow use of the same device on a variety of firearms with different thread diameter/pitch. Attractive way to share one device on multiple arms. Suppressed 300 BLK is pleasant to shoot. If shooting an AR, you almost have to put the suppressor on it for subsonic rounds to cycle. Ditto for the Ruger Mini-14 Tactical in 300 BLK. The feed ramps on the Mini-14 are more forgiving than M4 ramps on an AR. It will eat round nose and spire points. The M4 is a spire point only affair.

Have had good success with 110 gr Varmageddon, V-MAX and A-Max style bullets from Hornady. You want to get the correct seating stems for the sharper pitch ogive so the bullets aren't damaged when seating. I picked up more Win 296 powder as it does double duty with 300 BLK, 357mag, 44mag, 454Casull, 500S&Wmag. There is a fine 7 hole chamber checker from EGWguns for 300 BLK. Made with real Clymer chamber reamers. Click the pic for the web page.
