State officials made 55 separate requests for ammunition for 9mm pistols, 12-gauge shotguns, semi-automatic rifles and other firearms as part of a solicitation to vendors across the country, according to bidding documents received by sporting good wholesalers.

Officials described the deal as routine, a way to secure cheap rounds for highway patrol, parole and probation, emergency management, wildlife and other state departments. Several counties, including White Pine and Esmeralda, also took part in the bid, purchasing officials said.

Nevada tax dollars at work. Any mention of .22 lr? Maybe they're gearing up to enforce the intergalactic background check initiative when it passes on the ballot next year. So, since some of my tax dollars are being used for the purchase, are they gonna share?

I have to wonder WTH they do with all this ammo.

Lord knows they don't use it to practice. I've shot against the best from local PDs, sheriff deputies and state troopers - and they all suck.

2.5 million rounds...

That’s just about a 1:1 ratio to the population of Nevada (+/- 2.8 million).

Coincidence?

Ruh roh. Sounds like a conspiracy theory. Based on what someone else posted, the leo’s are such lousy shots they’ll need at least 5 million rounds for the 2.8+/-.

Hmmmm. I’m not so sure. You probably said that so the “powers that be” don’t start keeping an eye on you. LOL! Purty sure they have a list of FReepers somewhere at the DOJ.

Um, I thought that things would be different here in the Silver state, you know, with the Red party in charge and all.......

We need a futures market and an options market on the CBOE for ammunition now.

LOL! Uh, yeah, me too. Our “conservative” ‘representatives’ in d.c. didn’t take long to stick it too us. heller and amodie. We already knew hairy was useless. Then we (s)elected ‘r’s’ to run the state legislature and put brian sandbagger back in and bingo boingo, we may as well have left tick segerbloom in control. Citizens vote no on tax initiative. Next session, they pass it anyway.

I’m under no illusion that there is any significant difference ‘tween the blue and red parties. However, the state of NV is multiples more livable than the nitwit land I recently left....CA.

Not likely.
These guys have no idea how to compete. Their gun is a tool for the job, and not one many have skill using.
I take that back - maybe 1 in 100 knows how to compete - but he isn't good enough to.

They're not taught to shoot well enough to compete; they're taught to kill, and then say that they were shooting *to stop the violator.*

That is: a couple of shots low in the gut, into the hips, to immobilize whoever they're shooting, then a couple to the center of mass in the body in case the first ones missed or *only* hit the legs, followed by a couple more to *the T-zone*- which is to say, in the face.

Then they *assess.* If their shooting victim isn't dead enough for them, repeat and empty the magazine.
