Hey Jorge Ramos: Im sure the Trump campaign wants to send you a thank you card and a fruit basket. Whats the best address? At a press conference in Iowa Tuesday night, the Univision reporter (quotes intended) tried his best to put Donald Trump on the spot regarding his immigration policies but guess what? It totally backfired.
Look, by the now many of you have seen the video of Ramos being escorted out of the room by security after trying to ask his immigration question. Some may say that approach was unnecessary but lets look at the facts.
First of all, Ramos was not called upon at the press conference. Another reporter was chosen by Trump to ask a question and Ramos barged in like a media bully. Hey Jorge, thats called bad journalistic etiquette. Mainstream media reporters should be calling Ramos out on that bad move. But thats not all. Once he started speaking, he didnt ask a question, he made a political statement. He essentially told Trump he couldnt deport millions of illegal immigrants. There was no question and when he finally got to something resembling a question, it was rhetorical in nature. Ramos did not come to that press conference with a journalists curiosity. He came with a political agenda. Thats strike 2 and the mainstream media should call him out on that too. Finally, after being escorted back in Ramos and Trump go at it on immigration. Think about this. Ramos was literally escorted out of the room and then Trump looks like the good guy by bringing him back and having him ask his question/rant. Thats remarkable. Who does that? Most politicians wouldnt ever try to engage with someone who clearly had an agenda but guess what? Trump doesnt care. He can handle it. Hes man enough to deal with it (to quote the cover of Time Magazine this week). What Trump showed (once again) to voters is that hes not afraid to back down from a fight. He lets it rip and loves to battle.
Politically, what makes this incident such a winning proposition for Trump is that anytime you take on the liberal, agenda-seeking mainstream media you win. Ramos tried to grandstand and hijack the press conference and Trump stood up to him. This is not an easy task. Many politicians wouldnt have the stomach for the fight or if they did engage, they wouldnt have turned the tables as deftly as Trump. Thats what voters want. They want a fighter. They want someone who is going to dish it back to agenda-setting reporters. You see, when it comes to the liberal mainstream media, conservative voters hold a true disdain for the lot of them but they dont feel they have the power or bully pulpit to fight back against them. Trump is their bully pulpit. Trump is their voice. And that my friends, is the magic of Trump. Jorge Ramos wanted to expose Trump on immigration. Instead, he exposed why Trump is growing in popularity across America. Trump turned the tables. Hes the maestro conductor of this 2016 presidential election. He leads. Others follow. Oh, and one more thing: where should the Trump campaign send the fruit basket?
Ping!
As said earlier, if I didn't know better, I'd speculate Trump planted him so he could knock it out of the park.
I have to say, this is fun to watch.
That said, I though Trump handled this situation perfectly.
Exactly right!
Lots of things Trump does are “unnecessary” but all of them help his ratings. Finally we get a candidate on our side (I hope he is, anyhow) who is media savvy.
Every time Trump smacks someone down, it reminds me of that Batman/Robin meme with Batman smacking Robin. Lol. Good stuff. Trump/Cruz 2016!
Funny how folks wonder if every dust up the Trump Trolls incite are *planned* or *planted*.
I don’t think Trump has the time, or interesest, to line these gnats up for the swatting.
Agree. Trump has been saying the same things he’s saying now, for years.
I can’t wait for the rest of his plans to come out, either. Although, he’s been outlining them, in his books, for years.
Truely was a metaphor for Jan 20, 2017

BOOM!
Rush agrees that Trump handled this Trump troll masterfully.

Would you expect anything less from Trump. It always happens the way it does because Trump is fearless, sharp as a tack, and always maintains control of any situation. The MSM, political pundits, and politicians still do not get it, so they will keep making fools out of themselves trying to play the ‘gotcha game.’
Agree. Trump is the ONLY one offering the solutions, along with a YUGE helping of backbone, that we conservatives have been begging for.
Maatwefully done. Trump has had to deal with tougher people than Ramos. Not any where close to a NYC thug Er politician
I haven't seen that before, but nothing surprises me anymore. I do think it's instructive to watch Donald deal with the journolistas as they try to do what they've successfully done to almost every right of center politician since Reagan.
He just knocks it out of the park. Having fun and flourishing while doing it.
But, but...that’s not possible. We were told that he was capped at 25%.
Trump takes no prisoners, that’s for sure.
Ramos is a hack just like Megyn Kelly.
Trump stuffed Ramos like a piñata.
This is exactly what made Chris Christie so popular in New Jersey. The key to this approach is that you have to have a candidate who really doesn’t give a sh!t whether he wins or not.
