Donald Trump holds a commanding lead among likely Republican primary voters in South Carolina, according to a new Monmouth University poll released Tuesday.

Three in 10 voters (30 percent) said that Trump is their first choice, followed by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 15 percent. Neither candidate has held elected office, and 61 percent of voters said they would prefer someone from outside of Washington to bring a new approach.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is further back, at 9 percent, followed by former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 6 percent, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 5 percent

...

Trump leads along ideological lines as well, winning among those who described themselves very conservative (33 percent), somewhat conservative (31 percent) and moderate to liberal voters (23 percent). Trump also outpolled Carson 33 percent to 18 percent among evangelicals. He also won over more tea party and non-tea party voters, besting Carson and Bush, respectively.

Trump received a solid favorability rating of 58 percent to just 28 percent unfavorable

There are 17 official “major” candidates in the GOP race. Pretty amazing when you consider how Trump has been able to utterly dominate the news coverage. Other than Cruz and maybe Carson and Bush, you hardly hear about anybody else.

It is amazing that the GOPe is relentless in promoting a candidate(Bush) that few people want. Guess they don’t believe common citizens can rule themselves.

I saw an article saying that the VA and NC republicans are trying to rule that no candidate will be put on primary ballot that won’t vow to endorse the republican nominee.

Did the SC people forget about Loveable Lindsey also being in the race?

I still fear though that people in his native TX and his adopted FL will always want Jebbie even if they don’t know why.

Cruz at five percent is the main issue to me, here

“Donald Trump holds a commanding lead among likely Republican primary voters in South Carolina”

If you listen to the experts, that means that:

1. Trump has peaked
2. He is getting ready to withdraw
3. Jeb! is the real front runner
4. He only wants attention
5. He will finally pull it out for Hillary
6. Americans enjoy being overrun by illegals, so he has no real shot in the general election.

Several polls since release of immigration policy show Trump at 30% or better. A good bump and more policy statements to come.

I gave up on the GOP. The last straw was the nomination of Romney. I favor a new party strictly for conservatives. I can’t think of any GOP rep in government today that sticks to a strictly conservative view. Cruz comes very close but if Trump takes the nomination I will vote for him for sure. GOP leadership better learn the lesson that most of us are sick and tired of business as usual and get behind a conservative. It is a joke that Bush the Stupid actually believes he is a conservative! I can’t read into the mind of Trump but so far he towers over at least 10 pukes that are running for the nomination.

Quote; “He’s real, he’s the Donald and he’s HERE.”

And hopefully, he has a ground game. Rest assured, the GOPe is figuring a way to nullify any polling and get the “screw the base” voters to the polls.

Yeb is going to have a Town Hall meeting in Pensacola on Wednesday at the Civic Center Bayfront Auditorium where Romney/Ryan/Rubio held a campaign event in 2012. They filled it to near capacity of 17k people, but it was on a Saturday. It will be interesting to see how many they can get there for Yebbie.................

The other candidates have no financing of their own or from voters to be able to be seriously considered.

It’s been revealed the other candidates are all financed by the Bush PAC money in a strategy to splinter the field so badly that Jeb Bush can do a cakewalk to the nomination. But the strategy is not working because of Donald Trump.

If anything it provides another disgusting look at what politicians will do for money.

George Pataki?
Jim Gilmore?
Chris Christie?
Etc.

It’s like:

“Hey Jim! We want to finance you for a million dollars to run for prez, what say you?”

“Run for president? Million dollars? Why me?”

“Well Jim, we like how you’re known to folks in West Virginia.”

“It’s Virginia.”

“No matter, will you run?”

“Hardly anyone knows of me. Let me think....free travel? Free barbecues? Free publicity?”

“You got it!”

“Well, I...well let’s make it 2 million.”

“One and a half mil.”

“You’re twisting my arm here. Alright then!”

“Good to have you on board Kim.”

“It’s Jim.”

“No matter. And the Bush family sends you their regards.”
