I’ve always thought the whole organic thing was a scam and an excuse to charge higher prices on food.

That’s one reason why I avoid Whole Paychecks.

The other is all the libs who shop there.

The place is a freak show.

It’s not that hard, eat what your grandparents did.

Most of the dietary problems came from junk science in the 1960s and ‘70s, like “salt is bad”, “Soy is a wonderfood with no ill effects!”

Everything else is marketing, more junk science, and snobs looking for something to brag about. There’s no need to avoid gluten if you don’t have Celiac disease.

I did the whole30 diet just last month and lost fifteen pounds and twenty points off my blood pressure. I ate a lot of steak and pork chops and even bacon. Cut the pop and alcohol, cheese etc... Sleeping great and feeling ten years younger. The first week however, was terrible.

The whole gluten free thing is a farce like global warming. Especially as we get older, consume less calories is what I am finding works best.

50% of everything we eat should be vegtables. For a foodie its a battle......

I avoid foods that I have trouble staying away from, I just dont bring them into the house.....I cannot tell you the last time I had peanut butter in the house. I just cannot control it. Now that is FUNNY but true.

1/8 of the avacodo is a serving. I could eat 5 ripe avacados no problem.

And get moving 1 hour a day. IMHO

Good.

I used to be annoyed by the tiny little shopping carts they have at Whole Foods.

But now I know why. Because they are soooooooo expensive, most people only buy a few items at a time. Few people could afford to do their main grocery shopping there.

If it weren’t for my wife (who fortunately only likes a few things there) I would never go anywhere near a Whole Foods.

Just staying away from crap is the key.

White sugar, white flour, deep fried garbage like potato chips.

You don’t need to eat pure and organic, but crap like snack foods and sodas that are mostly sugar water aren’t good for anyone.

Every time I go into the local “health food” store”, it is full of the most sickly, malnutritioned people with one foot in the grave who can’t wait to tell you how amazing their diet is.

Also the fat free nonsense. Brains love fat. I researched this because my son’s pediatrician wanted to put him on a low fat diet when he was an infant. After reading about the brain being the fastest growing organ for an infant and that brains love fat, I did not change his diet. He was heavy but all that weight fell off once he started walking.

They also need the complex B’s you find in dark and organ meats to grow nerves & grey matter, putting to rest the notion that vegan is our “natural” diet.

No. There are some people, like me, who have a gluten sensitivity which I developed in my 30s. I would love to be able to eat regular bread, cakes, pies, cookies, etc., but I can't unless I want to suffer the consequences, which take four to five days to work their way through my system. It's not in my head, and it took years of suffering before finally figuring out what the cause was. Once I eliminated gluten from my diet, no more problems. Unfortunately, there is hidden gluten in a lot of products you wouldn't expect - red vines, some yogurts, slim jims just to name a few - and if I don't read labels, I'll know within about 20 minutes if I've been "glutenized".

The high priestesses of this new religion are a group of young, attractive women ...

... exactly the WRONG people to dispense advice.

The only people worth turning to for nutritional people, are OLD women and OLD men who are healthy mentally and physically.

My wise ol' Ma advised about a year ago that I stop with skim milk and start drinking whole milk, her theory being that the human body needs dairy fat to more efficiently process the nutrition in dairy products. I grew up drinking all the whole milk I desired (which was a lot, I come from a family of milk drinkers), but I had been drinking nearly a quart a day of skim milk for more than 35 years, opting for skim milk to help maintain my girlish figure (!).

So I switched to whole milk ...

... and within a few weeks, even though I exercised and ate exactly the same as always, lost four pounds and it has stayed off.

My ol' ma knows what she's talking about when it comes to nutrition, more in her little finger than "young, attractive women" have in their whole noggins. The young, attractive vegan I knew 30 years ago is still a vegan and has aged into a chronically ill mess.
