When and where did Trump say he would not take anyone’s money? I’ve heard him say he’ll use his own money; that’s not the same thing as refusing to use anyone else’s money.

"Because I don’t need anybody’s money. It’s nice. I don’t need anybody’s money. I’m using my own money. I’m not using lobbyists, I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich."

So if I give to The Donald, he'd better be there for me when I call him. Right? The man said it himself - that's how it works, no?

According to him, no. At least not with him. He did say that's how it works, but identified THAT as part of the problem. Hence the "no strings attached". Personally I don't intend to donate to him even if he wins the nomination. He doesn't need it.

I thought he has aways said this. I’ve seen his site with the donate button for a while now. I haven’t received any emails from him but I have received emails from Carson, Fiorina, Cruz, Bush and Rubio.

sure i’ll write him a check. it’s not that i have any faith in trump, or that any amount relative to his great wealth necessarily matters to him. it’s that it makes him liable, more answerable to the people and God. that’s a good thing if he eventually turns out to be president.

Everyone else is getting millions....Why not?? He’s been worth just getting people to step to the plate.

Didn’t Barry Goldwater revert to Liberalism in his latter years? Was Barry just conning us in his former years?

On social issues, yeah, he took an unfortunate left turn in his old age. No, I don't think he was conning us in his former years.

If you're comparing Trump to Goldwater (an offensive comparison, if you ask me, but leaving that aside...), let's take the comparison all the way. After his (partial) turn to the left, do you think that (age aside) the Dems would have run him? Would he have had any credibility as a liberal candidate in a Dem primary? If not, then why should Trump have any credibility as a conservative candidate in the GOP primary?

Because the RNC can’t seem to handle the likes of Trump; he’s better off with some grown ups.

Donald Trump is out of their league.

No I don’t think its over at all....I read the article, had a really hard time with it whether to post it or not...

I have faith in Trump, he hasn’t lied to us yet...maybe he’s going to start his own campaign channel for his debates, etc....

You read the article on here where the GOPe is trying to keep him out of the debates? Maybe that’s what this is all about....I don’t know...

There's a psychological aspect to donating. Once someone gives money to a campaign, they feel more invested in it, and they're less likely to switch loyalty. If giving a few dollars stops a person from being tempted to give to another campaign, it keeps a voter on board.

FWIW, I bought one of the Trump made-in-the-USA tee shirts for $20. Figure that's a donation to the campaign and giving a US citizen a job.

You need to chill out, girl.

That is not the same thing as stating he will not take anyone’s donations.

Take a deep breath and read carefully. Maybe a reading comprehension course would be helpful.

How could someone offer him $5 million anyway? The legal contribution limit is stated on his web site which is something in the 1000s.

Someone could offer millions to a SuperPAC, but Trump doesn’t seem to have one of those and if he did, he’s barred by law from coordinating with it.

I think at some point he’s going to get slapped with the same kind of lawsuits by the left that Perry and De Souza got hit with. The way he flies by the seat of his pants and talks a lot, they’ll find an opening somewhere.

How is him saying that he doesn’t need anyone’s money and is not “using donors” to fund his campaign functionally different than saying that he would not be taking campaign contributions?

I donated to him some time ago and have urged others to do so also. I am glad to hear this depending on who the donors are, if that makes sense. I have worried from the beginning because although he is a billionaire I believe I have read that he has a limited amount of liquid assets that can be used to finance his campaign.

Logic tells me that it’s going to be a very long and expensive campaign, especially with the RNC, GOP and media against him. I don’t want him to have to cut back due to lack of funds although it’s obvious he knows how to take advantage of every cent he has.

So far as I understand it, large donations are coming from family. His donations page allows only $2700 per person but the more people that donate, the more people who have a vested interest in getting him elected.

I got a hat....have a pic on my face book wall, my kids laughed...

But I do support a Trump/Cruz 2016 ticket....it just made me uneasy reading the article...

Why should Mr. Trump spend only his money? I appreciate the opportunity of being able to help.

I'm SO glad people are looking at it as ok, I just got over worried about how this was going to look...

He isn't a politician and he answers to no one, and he isn't in bed with anyone (except his wife, lol) and that is one of the many reasons I like him...

I wished he would come to Utah, but what has Utah got to offer him? Hatch has everything here sewn up with BUSH...
