California, the new city state
Los Angles Times ^ | August 21, 2015 | Harold Meyerson

Posted on 08/23/2015 7:38:21 PM PDT by artichokegrower

California is rightly regarded as one of the bluest — that is, most Democratic — and most liberal states in the nation. But California's political complexion is increasingly so distinctive that it should demand an entirely new coloration.

Two factors that should sound familiar in California have moved the cities leftward. The first is racial recomposition. Between 1980 and 2010, census data show the percentage of whites in New York City dropped from 53% to 37%; in Los Angeles, from 48% to 29%; in Houston, from 53% to 26%; in Phoenix, from 78% to 47%; in Columbus, Ohio, from 76% to 59%.

How many of California’s electoral votes and seats in the House of Representatives
are based on the illegal residents counted in the 2010 census?
Does anyone really know?

It’s not blue in the strictest sense

Go outside any metro area and it’s deep red.

So to speak on both points.

Nobody knows.”By including illegal aliens in the Census data used to apportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, areas with large numbers of illegal residents gain additional representatives...”

This source says that California gets 6 electoral votes
and 6 seats in the House of Representatives
based on counting of illegal immigrants in the 2000 census.

California will go Trump.

In addition, it will be a sea change in California’s political environment.

For the first time since Reagan, an actual presidential contender will come to the state and hawk good sound principles. It will be the first time half the populace has heard them.

Folks, that is 32 years.

That is one of the primary reasons why the state is the way it is.

Think about it. People ten years old in 1984 are now 42. They have never heard a presidential contender (with the level of visibility that comes with him) in the state hawking Conservatism.

“California will go Trump.”

You’re going way out on a limb.

It’s fine by me if you’re right.

This may be one of the biggest landslides in the nation’s history.

Trump might get every state. The District is almost impossible, but who knows.

Remains to be seen.

May be the revolution people have been clamoring for.

Can he handle the wheel if thrust into his hands? Or will he let it slip through his fingers?

I think his instincts are a lot better then some people thought. It won’t be perfection from our standpoint, but I think he’ll be a lot better than Bush, and screw up a few times also.

He may surprise us. We’ll all see...
