This issue is based on principle. As much as I like my Anglo-Saxon heritage, I don't think someone from the UK should be granted citizenship. It is a matter of allegiance of the parents. If you are a subject of the Queen, you hold your allegiance to the crown. There are few other countries that do not recognize this.

Personal story on the flip-side: My sister and BIL live in Switzerland. They are citizens of the US. They are treated unequally in Switzerland because they are not citizens. It would be very difficult for them to become citizens of Switzerland.. It's not an anti-American thing. They have friends and live good lives. They are Americans and will return to America when they retire, most likely to Texas. They work in Switzerland because of the economy here and they can get work in Switzerland because their skills are needed in Switzerland.

This is an appropriate view on allegiance to ones country in a global economy.
