Just a thought: instead of deporting the illegal immigrants, let's have them sign up for gov't assistance, then send Mexico the bill. We'll put Trump in charge of collection.
Am only half-joking. We don't have the manpower to find and relocate all the illegals. And since a number of candidates/politicians are calling for 'self-deportation' maybe an idea like this (sending Mexico the bill) could be made to work.
It is my understanding that many, if not most, of the illegal immigrants are here because the Mexican gov't is so corrupt, and living conditions are so dangerous, that many illegal immigrants are here in the USofA to stay alive.
This is just idle speculation, so go ahead and fire when ready.
If you force all businesses to do E-Verify with a local investigation initiated every time a SSN comes across as a non-match, the self-deportation would happen quickly.
How about passing the Fair Tax? The illegals would not be eligible for the monthly prebate check and could not afford the 23% tax on all items, including food and clothes.
E-Verify should have already been fully enforced. Perhaps the next President and congress can put some teeth in it.

Yeah, and I kinda like Dr. Carson’s idea of about 10% tax across the board. No loopholes. And end the entitlement gravy-train (welfare should be a matter for the churches and civic groups, not gov’t).
Of course not. What you do is create disincentives. Right now, we have built many incentives to illegally immigrate with few, if any penalties. You need to reverse that. My idea. If you are caught here illegally, you are retina scanned, and then you get a free trip back to Mexi...er, your country of origin. THEN, if we catch you again, PFfftt! A ten year trip to the concentration camp, in ALASKA. No trial. You don't get one. You are not a citizen. If you earn money, illegally here, It will be confiscated. If you own property illegally here, it will be confiscated. The idea is, you will not have to deport. They will SELF-DEPORT under these conditions. It is just a matter of will.

If we can give them drivers licences, we can find and report them.
Enforce e-verify, heavily punish violators.
Some good comments here. One thing already brought up is the main idea, remove the incentive to come here.
Securing the border is priority one, but do it WHILE getting everything else going.
E verify - I’m not crazy about the government having a database of any kind, but this seems like it might be necessary. Give it some teeth.
Fines - Fine every employer caught hiring illegal immigrants, I’d say $10,000 per person.
Caught here illegally - Confiscate everything. Money, cars, home furnishings, leave them with the clothes they’re wearing.
Wire transfers - 25% fee on all Western Union money transfers going out to Mexico, no exceptions.
1st time - Go home. Lose everything.
2nd time - Stay here, in prison, 5 years, lose everything.
And of course there’s my long time immigration plan...

1. Stop all foreign aid to Mexico. Stop the money, you have their attention. Nothing gets a politicians attention quicker. I’ve recently amended that to stop all foreign aid to every country south of Texas.
2. Stop all tourist traffic into Mexico on a temporary basis, in the interest of public safety, Americans are in danger south of the border.
3. Put the military at the border if necessary, shoulder to shoulder, from Laredo to the Pacific shore.
4. Tell Mexico to stop illegal immigration AND shut down the drug cartels and we’ll talk money.
I give it 6 months and you won’t be able to get a mouse across the border without papers.

All of the first several items I just posted would tend to promote self deportation, we wouldn’t have to round up many at all.
Also, the government keeps whining they can’t find them all...they found them to find out millions pay taxes???

OK which is more expensive - Find and deport or pay for welfare, food stamps, low income housing, education and health care for the next 40 years? A bus ticket to Laredo sounds a lot cheaper to me...

Interesting points, indeed. Problem with #4 is that thing about shutting down the drug cartels. It seems to me that THEY are the Mexican gov’t. So maybe we declare war on Mexico and annex it?
He’s actually offering them a form of amnesty. As long as they have an employer saying they want them and they haven’t been arrested for some non-immigration crime, they will simply have to go visit family and then be able to return legally. We won’t have to pay a thing—they’ll be eager to do it.
(I’m not for any kind of amnesty myself, but we don’t have a candidate running with that position.)
We should send a bill to Mexico for all public services including education and medical care delivered to all of their citizens here in the U.S. illegally. We should also return all imprisoned criminals with the bills for their lawyers, incarceration costs and medical expenses plus damages incurred by their crimes.
Until Mexico retrieves its citizens and pays for the cost, no free trade. We will impose duties on everything arriving legally in the U.S. (meaning not on drugs), until these costs are reimbursed.
I also like Donald’s idea of impounding money illegals are sending to Mexico, that could also be used to cover taxpayer dollars spent on these people.
