I’m just trying to figure out the last time I could go to a Regal theatre with a large bag or backpack of any kind. A staff member will step up and encourage you to go back and put it in your car (and even recommend the trunk since cars can get broken into.) Anything other than a small purse is restricted from entry.
But of course, this has nothing to do with making a defenseless citizen zone and everything to do with protecting snack bar profits.
Welcome to TSA Cinemas! We hope you enjoy your viewing experience.
Clearly, this will make everyone safer, because no one will ever think to conceal a firearm on their person. Snacks and sodas on the other hand ARE harder to conceal on one’s person. OK, on second thought, this DOES make people safer - safer from concealed snacks.
What about pockets?
I’ve decided not to go to the movie theater any longer. Even without the chance of being shot at, the prices are out of sight and the concessions are also way too pricey. I like to wait until they’re out on DVD at Redbox or Netflix streaming. If the movie turns out to be a dud, I haven’t lost anything to speak of.
In Wisconsin if a business bars 2a citizens carrying in their building, they assume liability for their personal safety and security.
If they do not check everyone coming in for weapons, and do not have security present, 2a ccw people can ignore their signs, as they are not holding up their liability responsibilities.
You are on their property they don’t need a warrant. You can refuse the search, but they can refuse you entry.
So I would refuse to trade with these idiots. What’s next? Restaurants? Are we to be searched in each and every place we go? How about establishing law and order and let’s go back to living our lives in freedom!
This will backfire on Regal. No law requires any business to keep the customers “safe”.
Once Regal begins searching customers bags they are implying that they are trying to keep you safe. Of course that can not be done by this method so when an evil person goes in kills a dozen folks, the lawyers will be lined up to sue Regal for failing to keep the customers safe as implied by the bag checks.
Still ask them. Cops need them as well.
No.
Regal Entertainment Group has paid, and will continue to pay the price in lost ticket and concession sales from me and from my family.
Regal Cinemas in West Virginia and the other Virginia all have “Gunbusters” signs on the front doors. They lost my business when the signs went up. Alamo Drafthouse has them as well. To hell with the whole ruddy lot!
Every time I go into a theater, I have thoughts about the shootings. I live on the border with CT and that is where I go to the movies, so I cannot bring my gun with me as CT has worse gun laws than MA. I cannot even buy ammo at the Cabela’s twenty minutes from my home unless I go to the State office in CT and ask “mother may I” to get a permit to buy ammunition.
Piss on that.
But they will not stop disruptive behavior from the punks in aisle 12.
They are checking in the pants too?
I would not spend a single dime there if I am a guaranteed victim.
haven’t been to movie theater in ... 15 years minimum.
have seen one or two in the last 10.
