In reaction to firearm-related attacks at gun-free theaters in Aurora, Colorado (2012), and Lafayette, Louisiana (2015), Regal Entertainment Group has gone from simply barring law-abiding citizens from carrying guns for self-defense to checking their purses to be sure they are unarmed.
Regal theaters have said, backpacks and bags of any kind will be subject to searches for theater goers safety. At the same time, The Wrap reports the theater chain admits their policy is not without flaws.
Of course, those flaws will result in law-abiding citizens paying a price for being unarmeda price that those denying the exercise of Second Amendment rights are largely immune from paying.
But this is the path society goes down when businesses begin denying the natural rights of their patrons. First, they deny the rights of law-abiding citizens and then, when criminals ignore the denial, they punish law-abiding citizens by searching their purses, their bags, and their backpacks.

There was something that bothered me about this, but I had to think a while. This would only affect women and stupid men. Smart men wear guns on their person, not stowed in a bag. The effect on those wanting to go in and kill a few people would be pretty much zero.
However it would cut down on those bringing food and drink into the theaters. And this is a policy that I’ve seen done in many theaters for years. I wonder if some idiot at Regal decided to reframe the policy as gun control, thinking that would make people like it better.
Simply carry your gun in your waistband under your shirt and Regal can go pound sand.
I refuse to go to any theater or any establishment that will not allow my legal concealed carry weapon. When I am in that theater it is a safer place because of me and probably several others in there just like me.
Hey this is Texas and that is how it works here.
If I were a bad guy I could easily get several weapons into a theater that was a no carry zone unless they do a complete body search on each and every patron. That will not happen.
Honest men and women with weapons make the area safer. We are the good guys.
Yep. Streaming movies.
The Regal here does not have a no-guns sign. I carry in my pocket. Wife has a purse that has a hidden compartment for a pistol.
Actually, they are doing it to keep you from bringing in food.
This is such crap. They are looking for candy and booze.
Eff ‘m! There isn’t a movie worth going through such bs to get into any of those crackerbox movie theaters to see.
Go fishing.
Beat me by ten seconds.
Regal loses my business if they opt to search me and bar me because of my CCW carry.
People need to stop giving their money to businesses that do this crap. It’s very simple.
Oh well, guess I have to leave my new man-purse at home.
ask em “where’s your search warrant”.
Who is doing the (illegal) searches?
Who is doing the searches?
A cop?
If not, ask em for their search warrant.
I don’t go to the movies.
Bingo.
Movies are so last century.
They also started doing it in Houston but no “no guns allowed” signs yet.
Forget the gun, how the heck am I gonna smuggle my chick fill value meal in? My big purse was just the right size.....
