The Trump has landed - Deal With It (Time Mag cover story)
TIME MAGAZINE ^ | Michael Scherer

Posted on 08/20/2015 5:56:57 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

There are some things you just can’t do in politics, not at the presidential level, anyway.

This is a game like any other, with rules honed over decades by the pros in blue blazers clutching focus-group results: Be likable. Don’t make enemies. Respect the party elders. Avoid funny hats. And never wear white bucks or French cuffs to the Iowa State Fair, a flyover fantasyland of cholesterol and common decency where the life-size butter cow grazes behind glass with the life-size butter Uncle Pennybags from Monopoly.

That’s why Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker wore jeans to pose atop the hay bales this year. Former HP CEO Carly Fiorina featured pink plaid—Farmer Jane meets Disney princess—and Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton dug up a blouse of blue gingham, hoisting her pork chop on a stick like a blue ribbon for authenticity. They all played it well, adhering to the sacred promise that if they pretend to be like everyone else, voters might think they actually are.

Then a buzzing came across the sky. A $7 million Sikorsky helicopter, sent over six states in at least four hops by its billionaire owner, descended in tight circles on the crowd, the name of the Republican front runner for the 2016 presidential nomination emblazoned on the tail. Donald John Trump, at roughly 25% in the national GOP polls, about twice his nearest rival, emerged in Des Moines with his golden mane encased in a big ruby baseball cap, his cuffs flashing diamond links and his shoes shining brighter than bleached teeth.

The state trooper in charge of the event told the governor that in all his years working the fair, he had never seen a candidate mobbed like Trump.

Trump, for his part, didn’t pretend to care much for the pork chop on a stick. One bite and he put the silly thing down. The rules have changed. He didn’t need it.

“Rather than fall in the polls after the debate ended, as so many expected, Trump continued to climb. It has been like this all summer. “

That’s a quote from the article.

It’s fantastic, actually.

Think of the advertising value of having his face on the cover of time magazine and the comment "Deal With It."

Trump's face will be staring out at voters in every doctor's office, dentist office, newspaper stand, and sundry waiting rooms around the country.

Trump is every thing I hate in a politician. Northeastern born & bred, Ivy League educated, big mouthed and a braggart.
But, up until a couple of months ago he was not a politician. He was and is a pretty damned successful business man.
different? No! I still do not like him. But I am not voting for a drinking buddy, I am voting for someone who will at least make an attempt to fix that criminal that is our government and he is the only one that will even make that attempt. SO, Yes I will vote for Trump. In the primary and the general. As the Republican nominee or as a third party candidate or as a write in.

Trump would be well-advised to do campaign events w/ tough-talking
Wisconsin Sheriff Dave Clarke by his side. Clarke is considered a rock star in conservative circles. Clark could be dynamic VP material.

Milwaukee’s tough-talking black sheriff, David Clarke, argued this week that white Americans have “made great strides” in healing race relations, and that sooner or later they’re going to grow tired of having their noses “rubbed in the past sins of sins of slavery." (Fox News via The Daily Surge)...

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke didn’t pull any punches in his assessment of the Rev. Al Sharpton — who vowed to keep fighting for justice for slain Ferguson teen Michael Brown, despite the feds’ decision to drop a civil rights investigation — and characterized him on national television as less than intelligent and unworthy of respect.

“The grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, got it right,” Sheriff Clarke said, during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” “Officer [Darren] Wilson has been exonerated. The thing I want to know is how does he get his reputation back?”

Sheriff Clarke then directed anger at Mr. Sharpton, who spoke sharply in the wake of Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision not to prosecute Mr. Wilson, a former police officer, on civil rights charges.

CLARKE “I don’t expect anything intelligent to come out of the mouth of Al Sharpton,” Sheriff Clarke said, Mediaite reported. “We know he is a charlatan. Al Sharpton ought to go back into the gutter he came from. The police officer is owed a lot from him, Eric Holder and the president of the United States.”

Mika likes Trump so much that she gets upset when anyone criticizes him.

MSNBC treats Trump better than Fox.

I love the part in the second video down, where the pajama boy reporter asks Trump about “undocumented immigrats”. Trump stops him and says “we are talking about illegals here, right? People here illegally? You know the word illegal, right?”

Reporter looks down, “Uh yeah, illegal immigrants”.

Priceless!

A conservative middle class crushed by economic change and unsettled by demographic transformation has reached the point where a condo promoter conveys more credibility than the party’s most accomplished governors.

It's not demographic transformation that is unsettling. The Republic has withstood demographic transformations in the past and will in the future.

It is the willful failure on the part of FedGov and the political elites to protect the Republic's borders and to enforce its most fundamental immigration laws.
