Everyday Americans, state lawmakers and local officials recently came together to protect a veteran threatened with having his guns confiscated by the feds. The peaceful demonstration shows exactly what happens when people stand up against the federal government it backs down.
Although the federal government likes to gives off the impression that its authority is supreme, all it takes is a small group of folks saying no to them to show thats not the case. A Breitbart report elaborates on how resistance effectively worked in Idaho:
On August 6, residents and Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler lined up outside the Priest River, Idaho, home of veteran John Arnold to prevent the Veterans Administration (VA) from taking away his guns
Roughly 100 people showed up, including Sheriff Wheeler. Those assembled waved an American flag, a Gadsen flag, and sang patriotic songs. Wheeler said: I took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and uphold the laws of Idaho. This seemed appropriate to show my support. I was going to make sure Mr. Arnolds rights werent going to be breached.
The individuals in this small Idaho community didnt just rant and rave about the evils of federal oppression; they banded together and did something about it. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) wanted to essentially revoke Arnolds most basic freedoms because he supposedly couldnt handle his own finances anymore. But when the people came together and stood up, the VA backed down.

The Tenth Amendment should have been the First.
People don’t realize it, but the county sheriff is the ultimate last line of defense when the Constitution is being violated.
County sheriffs have the authority to enforce the Constitution and refuse to enforce laws and court decisions that are unconstitutional. They also can arrest federal law-enforcement agents operating in their counties without their approval and/or are attempting to enforce unconstitutional laws.
I guess the Sheriif’s power depends on the state you are in. That position in Delaware is worthless as far as enforcing the Constitution, state or Federal. It’s a paper-pushing job with a fancy title that is part of the foreclosure process selling off homes for taxes and late mortgage payments. One of our county sheriffs wanted to put lights on his car and arrest speeders, etc., and the wusses in county and state government told him no and to just go serve papers and sell houses on the courthouse steps.
We’re a Democrat state, by the way....
You read the book by Sheriff Richard Mack.
"These principles reach all the way down to the local level. In Priest River, even state legislators and the county sheriff got in on the resistance. Making federal overreach a rallying cry brings freedom-minded individuals together from both the private and public sectors."
"The lesson to be learned in this case is to follow in the footsteps of the people of Priest River. Simply refuse to comply with the federal governments unconstitutional acts. They will ultimately crumble under their own weight. Saying, No! can make all the difference in the world."
Actually, the county sheriff is the First Line of defense when the Constitution is being violated.
Here in eastern Idaho, in the 1990's when the Feds reintroduced Canadian gray wolves, one turned up dead, (collar # B-13) and the Fed wildlife gestapo tried to arrest the local rancher whose property it was on. The rancher was a WWII silver star recipient and told the Feds to go pound sand. Our local sheriff ordered the armed Feds off the property and to leave the county...which they did.
They subsequently filed charges against the rancher but dropped the suit after a LOT of public hollering.
Any time a fed agent comes on your, (my!) property, I will tell them to leave and do not return without the county sheriff...or else!.
The federal $$$ that pours into various Counties has changed all that. Well, at least it has changed how most Sheriffs respond. Take, for example, our illustrious "Republican" sheriff here in Mesa County CO - we have a HUGE drone program here, financed by none other than the FedGov. You think our fearless leader of a sheriff is going to turn them away? Not when it directly effects his budget's bottom line!
“But when the people came together and stood up, the VA backed down”
For now. They’ll wait for when everyones guard is down. Distracted about other things elsewhere. Then they’ll swat the guy.
Just to let you know...I’m stealing your pic. Good stuff.
The Feds told the crowd guarding this guy, “We’ll be back!”
Adding, “The VA doesn’t have the power to take anyone’s guns away!”
Yeah, right.
