There are plenty of reasons that a conservatives would not support Trump. yet the article ignores this,

Voted Hillary for Senate

Donated big bucks to Clinton Foundation

says Bill Clinton is the best President

say Oprah would make a good VP

praised Obama for “saving the economy” in 2009 (attacked opponents of bailouts and TARP)

supports Kelo

supports ENDA

proud to pay off politicians for favors

on his 3 rd wife (who poses nude)

says he never asks God for forgiveness

says Confederate flag belongs in museum

blames Pamela Geller for the Garland terror attack

think-skinned

reacts and insults people like a 12-year old

“There are principled conservatives who also cannot stand Trump because he is not a conservative.”

I think trump is mostly a conservative at this point in his life, though probably not a “principled” conservative as the people you refer to. But there are far more conservatives in existence than principled conservatives, so he will still get a lot of conservative support. Guess I’m not as principled as you, as I’ll support him if he succeeds and Cruz subsides.

And Cruz is 100% for increasing H1-B visas by 500%.

He was also for TPA before he was against it.

Both of these positions help the Chamber of Commerce/Goldman Sachs types—like Cruz’s wife.

Trump is a real world conservative from the business world. That trumps conservatives who have been lawyers all their lived and never ran a business and base policy on ideology vs the real world.

Ideology should be a compass not a blue print.

TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!

In this corner you have: Rush, Sean, Levin, Palin, Colter, Savage

In the other corner you have: Beck, Krotchammer, Rove, Bush, establishment progressives

Excellent article and deserving of its own thread. Especially alarming in stating that the GOP establishment would rather lose to Clinton than allow Trump, or another candidate not under their control, to win for the GOP.

Maybe so. But the article isn't really making the case for why YOU should support Trump - it's delving into why most (not all) of the people who *don't* don't.

Speaking of Cruz - I'm having increasing questions about his eligibility. Born in Canada, only one parent is an American citizen...how is his biography really any different from Obama's, other than swapping out Canada for Kenya?

I’m not a one-issue voter. As a conservative Christian Trump is much worse than Ted.

I could not live with myself voting for a guy like Trump.

Hot Air is a website I visit regularly.Been a lot of Trump and Trump supporter bashing regularly. I’ve noticed a turn to the left there, I’ve disconnected from Red state. Clicking on Morning Joe and agreeing with him on a couple of things...something I’ve NEVER done before. WTH?!

Up is down, down is up, huh?...jeez

It’s interesting to see who is teaming with Trump and who Glenn Beck is teaming with.

I see a few people are working for forgiveness.

Better writers to upgrade their lies, usually works.

"For a decade now, Karl Rove has been more of a wrecking ball than an architect. Republican campaign advisors like Rick Wilson consistently try to take the pulse of the American people – but can't find the artery"

Great lines! And perfectly true.

...and that is that the establishment types WANT the things that Trump and his supporters are opposing. The reason the inside-the-beltway types hate the anti-illegal immigration, pro-sovereignty, pro-rule of law position is because, ultimately, they want more illegal immigrants here.

Money quote. Through that prism, it explains the GOPe actions and motivation.

Really? Some guy at National Review or some other DC conservative site who puts Trump down doesn't necessarily have the same motivation of some billionaire who wants cheap labor.

In fact, an anti-Trump DC conservative just might have a better record on immigration than Donald does.

For anybody there who puts Trump down because they favor more illegal immigration, there's somebody who sees Trump as a Donny-come-lately interloper and somebody else who just doesn't trust Trumps bona fides.
