Commerce Department to renew contract with the Internet Corp. for Assigned Names and Numbers

The U.S. Commerce Department on Monday delayed for at least a year its plans to give up oversight of a key component of Internet governance.

The department said it would renew its contract with the Internet Corp. for Assigned Names and Numbers for one year. Icann administers the Internet’s domain-name system, through contracts with the companies that sell website names and addresses.

Considering that the Internet is one of the few uncontrolled ways to exchange ideas, the government will ultimately want complete control (and turn it over to the world powers that be). And they will get it.

Regardless who becomes President, the revenue available (tax) to the government via the Internet will be something that the government can’t ignore. Along with the taxing of the Internet will come control.

No, it’s more evidence that Congress has given too much power to the executive. We need to trim the executive branch of much/most of its power during the next administration. If we don’t we’ll never restore our republic and our liberty will continue to decline.
