Ted Cruz Talks About Nevada's Power in Reno
2 News KTVN ^ | Aug 15, 2015 | Shelbi Jay

2016 Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz traveled to Reno following his appearance at the Basque Fry in Gardnerville today.

The Texas senator held a public meet-and-greet at the ArrowCreek Country Club Saturday evening. He spoke about reforming the tax code, including establishing a flat tax and abolishing the IRS.

As for speaking directly to Nevadans, Cruz says that the government owns too much land. He also emphasized that being the 4th caucus, Nevada "has the power to make a big statement."

I just love that guy.
In a non homo kind of way of course.

Seriously, Ted gives me hope for the future every time I hear him or read his speeches.
Been a long time since I’ve felt this much hope about one person.

They fry Basques in Nevada?
Do they taste like chicken?

Yes, and so does Minden.

Yes. Carson does, too. It's pretty in the summer. Nevada is truly beautiful, in its own harsh way. It makes no bones for no one, and that's kind of exhilarating. I go out into the country in Nevada and I say to the environment, "You'll actually kill me if I screw up, won't you"? And the land replies, "Yep."

I like Cruz plan toward taxes better than Trump’s. Trump still wants a graduated tax code, saying at if you make 100 dollars and he makes a million, he should pay a higher rate.

Well, if it’s ten percent and you make 100, you’ll pay $10, and he will pay $100,000.

It will too. I live right on the Calif/Nev border not too far from Gardnerville/Minden.

Gotta love it. I have found people either love it or hate it, no middle ground. I absolutely love it, and am always prepared when I head for the hills, horseback or in a vehicle, ‘cause it will get me if I blink wrong.

I also live in Gardnerville, 200 ft from the Calif border. Walk my dog every day to the Calif side in order for him to do his ‘business’.

That's Nevada in a nutshell. The State motto should be "the land with an attitude." Crossing the state line is weird, I can actually feel the golden warm softness of California, versus the cool clean silver sharpness of Nevada.

I just hosted a couple of Reno girls, a USNA Midshipman and her sister here in Elvisland and the red neck Riviera. Sweet girls. They hosted my child in the past. Very nice people.

I’m all for abolishing the IRS in it’s present form. However, even with a flat tax, someone has to collect the tax money. So, I’d like to hear some details on how this would work. Everyone wants specifics from Trump, but, this is also a vague statement.

I’ve also found Nevada people to be extremely nice - good hearts, down to earth.

Well, with a much simplified tax system, and zero corporate tax rate, most of the collections problem can be automated. It’d also reduce the need for auditing to near zero.

And forget about the non-profit compliance div and its potential for political mischief and corruption. No tax, no compliance requirements. Welcome back first amendment.

And forget about the billions of dollars wasted on tax compliance. And forget about enforcement for socialist/fascist programs like obamacare. And forget about the feds collecting trillions of dollars from the people to feed the unconstitutional federal behemoth and or to allocate back to the states with fascist federal strings attached.

Cut the taxes, cut the spending, cut the regulations, cut the bureaucracy, cut the unconstitutional big government, cut the crap. Bring capital and jobs back to America so we can compete on the world markets. Put America back to work. Make America great again!

There's clouds in that picture. I can't believe there's clouds in that picture.
There's never clouds in Reno. Love the place, best odds in the world.
