Dr. Robert Epstein says search results from Google influenced voters in a study (one in India and 4 experiments in the US).
Clayton:
Members of the study were presented with fake search results and then negative news stories were dropped into those results and it had a profound effect on the way in which they voted.
Dr. Robert Epstein:
When biased rankings are shown to people, if one candidate is made to look better than another, it shifts voting preferences of those voters who are undecided. It is a big shift. The biggest shift was in moderate Republicans. They are most vulnerable to this kind of manipulation.
Clayton:
The idea that elections can be swayed by one negative story .
Dr. Robert Epstein:
50% of all clicks go to the first 2 results. More than 90% of clicks go to the first page.
If the algorithm favors one candidate it can easily flip an election. In fact, we have computed that upwards of 25% of national elections can be flipped by Googles algorithm with no one knowing that this is being done.
Clayton: We saw what happened with facebook and negative news feeds. Google statement what they are saying is: We are not manipulating this.
Dr. Robert Epstein:
Thats a meaningless statement. Our research shows Googles Algorithm with or without any involvement by Google employees, has been affecting elections around the world for years.
Clayton:
Thanks for sharing your research.

I thought this would be about the 2012 election ... how the democrat party stole the election for Obama ...
He did say he had studied 4 different US elections - and eluded to the fact that they were national elections at one point in the video.
It’s the stupidity index. Been around forever. In the early 1800s various political groups put out pamphlets completely denigrating the other side through lies. And it’s all guaranteed in the 1st amendment. As it should be. Caveat Emptor.
Once again, nothing new here. The question is does one believe it is unintentional, systemic bias or purposeful manipulation? Does one wish to be aware or a useful idiot?
For those of us who have been around a while, I am 60, this has been taking place regularly since WWII.

Nothing new
________
Agreed...but Epstein noted that moderate republicans are most easily swayed of any other group.
The key quote as noted in the comment section is below.
“The biggest shift was in moderate Republicans. They are most vulnerable to this kind of manipulation. “
As more and more become aware the momentum of pushback increases. We have all had enough.
Point being? Stupid is as stupid does (Forest Gump). And the left has their share of stupid too

The point is to be aware and to educate our youth to know what they believe and why they believe it.
That's a given for me and I assume for you. But what about those so called moderate republicans? You know the American Revolution only had a 25-35% following for the Patriots. If it comes to that again we can assume to have 33% for us 33% Marxist and the rest....the great unwashed will have to chose sides. God help us.
