I respect your opinion, Hostage. You have been standing and defending Ted Cruz from the beginning. You know that Ted Cruz is well rounded, being social Conservative, financial Conservative and national security Conservative, founded on the U.S. Constitution.

For me, Trump just talks. As you said, his records are all over the place. What will fill the gaps for more details will be only his words. Meanwhile, I am standing with the only proven Conservative in the race.

Cruz 100% Solid, Sure Thing, Never Have to Worry About Him.

NEW YORK
Trump is a New Yorker. The whole New York culture sometimes acts as an albatross around the neck of America, a psychological burden that acts as a curse. He has had to live in it and figure out how to thrive in it.

So yes, he’s a big talker because of where he comes from and what he’s had to face. But his 16 books say a lot about him. He’s not quite the clown he’s caricatured as. We will watch him because he is reaching most of the demographic groups that Ted is reaching but he’s also reaching one large group that Ted is not reaching and that is the LIV group which is substantial.

TED CRUZ’ APPEAL AND THE LEGACY OF RONALD REAGAN
Here’s the problem. Ted is, as I’ve said in many venues, the ‘Magnificent Conservative’ but so was Barry Goldwater who lost and so was Ronald Reagan who was elected his first term NOT SO MUCH BECAUSE HE WAS A CONSERVATIVE.

Let’s briefly review Ronald Reagan. The liberal media in 1979 and early 1980 had successfully caricatured him as a ‘trigger happy cowboy who would start endless war’ and indeed the media convinced Americans that RR would start WWIII with the USSR. And RR’s HAWKISH POSITIONS helped to confirm that caricature.

So RR was destined to lose unless there would be something out of the blue that would move a mass of American voters to him.

That something was the Iranian Hostage Crisis, and Carter’s awful response to it. People voted for Reagan’s ‘toughness’ while liberal leaning moderates sat out because they were less than enthusiastic for Carter.

RR’s conservatism had only a minor role in his getting into office. It was the emotional reaction, confirmed incompetence of Carter and hawkishness of RR that sealed the election for Ronald Reagan.

It was only after RR was in office for a few years demonstrating the virtues and values of conservatism that the Reagan Revolution took off. It was GW Bush’s swing to liberalism that put a damper on it.

Now Ted is successfully putting the old Ronald Reagan coalition together again and that is good. But his election is not a slam dunk. Ted may need Divine Intervention, a confluence of events that will drive the missing demographics to him. He may come close on his own and I think he will but it concerns me that it will be close. It could be razor thin and if it’s not by more than a 3% to 5% margin, the democrat machine may crank out a win.

TRUMP’S APPEAL AS AN OUTSIDE INDEPENDENT
Trump on the other hand resonates with conservative and non-conservative voters who are not necessarily liberal or leftist. The non-conservative apathetics are the segment that thinks elections are a waste, boring, just for show. Now they see someone that is not ‘owned’ who represents success and toughness. The LIV may not understand the structure and founding of the US Constitution but they understand the ‘Alpha Male’ and the language of toughness. They adore Trump.

When I was in high school in Virginia, one could not graduate unless they took an entire year of American History, Government and Civics. Everyone in my class had a good understanding of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. This is not the case today and that makes it difficult for Ted Cruz to get wide penetrating appeal except to those that have the background to understand where he’s coming from and to those that seek TRUST AND INTEGRITY as illustrated perfectly here at time 1:12:40,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sznh5AjageI

Trump does not articulate the trust and integrity that Cruz does but he has STRENGTH AND POWER as attributes that are appealing.

Trump has also written 16 books some of which are surprisingly conservative in nature. He’s smart in his own way (virtually no one can be as smart as Ted Cruz) but he has made verbal gaffes and wrong thoughts along the way. Now that he’s a serious player, the question now is can he get the detail right? Can he get the right people around him? One of those people must IMO be Ted Cruz. He needs Cruz because hardly anything gets past Cruz.

TRUMP AND CRUZ
Trump is 69, Cruz is 44. If Trump is successful and serves 2 terms with Cruz as VP, AND the two of them are successful at making America great again, both at home and abroad, then Ted Cruz will be #46 easily and he will only be 53 years old.

We are blessed to have Both men now. 2016 is a must-win. There can be no margin whatsoever for loss.

VETERANS
Trump loves our vets. That is confirmed. There is proof of that, more than evidence, ***proof***. Trump is also risking his personal fortune and reputation just as the Founders did. If he loses, the enemies he’s made are going to have their revenge on him and his businesses. Trump has turned down $213 million to himself by not renewing his show ‘The Apprentice’ for which he is the central figure.

RISK
The Founders pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. Trump is putting his fortune at risk. If he was not courageous, he would not do this. His election is not a sure thing, it is a gamble and he can pay a very big price if he fails.

MEDIA
There are a number of other attributes of Trump that are admirable. If the election was based on attributes alone, Ted Cruz would be the front runner by a wide margin. The other factor that is so important is the handling of the media. Trump has deflected everything the media has thrown at him. He has won. Cruz can beat any media person at debate, on facts and logic but he never punches back at them, until this morning for the first time when it was reported what he said to a leftist reporter on the campaign trail. So the Cruz Campaign is adjusting and changing their tactics towards the media. They are going on the attack and that is good. But Trump is the one that stood the media down. He’s effectively made them back off with their tail between their legs. This has brought him huge appeal and support. And now Ted Cruz is following suit.

POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENT
Both men excel in standing up against the political establishment. Americans hate the GOP establishment almost more than they hate democrats if that were possible. Both Cruz and Trump are the voice for Americans that are so fed up with the political establishment and its sycophant media that they will turn on even Fox News. Anything that causes the political establishment to recoil in horror gains a standing ovation from Americans.

BUSINESS AND ECONOMY
This is Trump’s strong suit. I personally have witnessed and experienced the stupidity and incompetence of America’s trade representatives. Trump gives me strong confidence that he will attack this weakness like no other president could. I could write pages about this aspect of the election but it will unfold by itself as the months go by.

FAMILIES
About their families. Families are fair game to examine because they are in effect ambassadors to the world and they tell a lot about the candidates. So they are fair game to put under the microscope.

Ted Cruz has the picture perfect family image. His father is awesome as are his wife and kids. He and his family’s wholesome image to the world is stunning.

Donald Trump has a wife who looks like a super-model. It can be intimidating to see her in gowns that are likely worth more that most people’s automobiles. But we need to see more of her. We don’t know her very well. It’s not the wholesome ‘family’ picture that Ted Cruz has. It’s different. What is it? What will that picture be? I do not believe Donald Trump would be happy marrying a beautiful model with a Bimbo Brain. I expect his wife will surprise us. I believe she may very well teach us about class and elegance much in the same way as Jacqueline Kennedy. So she may very well add an element that helps to make America proud again. We will see.

I still support Ted Cruz and donate to his campaign regularly. I will always do so.

You’re arguing for Trump’s electability, but you don’t at all mention his negatives. Since he’s so well-known already, how can he be expected to turn those negatives around in the general election campaign?

He’s been given a clean slate.

He was a businessman before, now he’s a politician. He’s undergoing a metmorphosis. As I’ve said before God’s not finished with him yet.

We have to wait and see how he develops. So far he is getting better not worse.

Given a clean slate by whom?

I should have phrased that better. I mean his negative polling, the people who say they would never vote for him. The general election match-up polling looks bad for Trump. He loses to Hillary by almost 15 points, worst than every other candidate. Christie is the next worst and only loses by 11. So how can you say he's so electable when he polls the absolute worst against Hillary?

Anyone that uses RCP polls to substantiate an ill-defined point is a fool and doesn’t deserve an audience.

"Several years ago I read Canadians who needed surgery were put on long lists so they came to the US to get the surgery they needed. I forget the US city they came to but it was one not far from the Canadian border. Their one payer medical does NOT work well. If Trump were put on a waiting list for surgery as the Canadians, you known damn well he would have flown somewhere in his plush airplane with 24 karat gold plated buckles on the seat belts, to get the surgery he needed and he would call the Canadian system a word in his usual style - “stupid”."

I have a friend in Washington state---she's one of the rare conservatives in that liberal place. She has relatives who live in Canada, and they ALL come here for their health care. I don't know where, specifically...maybe Seattle.

LOL, gold plated fixtures...the upscale version of velvet Elvis paintings.
