TULSA, Okla. - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is wrapping up an eight state tour, that included Oklahoma. The GOP hopeful was in Oklahoma City, Bartlesville, and in Tulsa on Thursday.
His final stop included a line of people waiting to get into the Union Performing Arts Center, and thousands inside, waiting as well. But before Cruz finished a press conference, he entered a war of words with a Tulsa reporter.
Shortly after stepping off his campaign tour bus, Cruz began to criticize the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare.
“Millions of Americans have seen their healthcare skyrocket because of the train wreck that is Obamacare,” said Cruz to a group of reporters and photographers.
After Cruz’s statement, a newspaper reporter cited an independent study while challenging Cruz on the validity of his claims. Cruz quickly responded and the two bantered back and forth for several minutes.
“I recognize that our friends in the media try very hard to defend this disaster of a law called Obamacare (inaudible words)…. Sir, you can ask your question. You don't get to interrupt me,” said Cruz. “I don't get an answer?” the reporter asked.
“If you don't like the answer you can write in the paper how unhappy you are that I did not embrace the premise of your questions,” said Cruz.
At that point, the reporter stepped out of the media circle surrounding Senator Cruz. “You see the reporter, is walking away. He really has problems. As Jack Nicholson said, “you can't handle the truth," Cruz called after him.
Dozens of Cruz supporters watched. Many had printed off tickets to attend the rally, but could not get inside. Cruz reported the fire marshal said the auditorium had reached beyond capacity.
“There is no way. They said at 6 o’clock they shut people out can't put anymore in there,” said Clarice Pike, who says she was not surprised to see so many people.
With standing room only inside, Cruz promised to repeal the Affordable Care Act, eliminate Common Core and reduce government power.

Bravo Cruz!
It’s no surprise that he is drawing huge crowds in OK. It is the most red state in the U.S. I think it was the only state that all counties went red in 2008. ted is solidifying the conservative base.
The best way to take down Trump will be his belief that single payer works.
I can’t believe he defended it in the debates. He is honest, but wrong. Cruz can take Trumps supporters by being one of the few not to attack him. Just focus on conservative policies.
Thanks for posting. My family are in Tulsa. They went to the rally at Union HS and OKC. My mom told me that hundreds were turned away. We’re going to the Religious Freedom Rally in Des Moines and I fully expect to be turned away.
I’m going to guess this was a Tulsa World reporter. The World, like most bird cage liners, are a bunch of leftists.
You must be a reporter with the MSM. Trump said it worked in Scotland and Canada, and it might have worked here in the past, but not now. Why do people make up and say half-baked things?
True dat.
I hope someone posts the exchange and the baby walking away. Lol
I heard exactly what he said. He supports it. He will not work to repeal it.
It doesn’t work in Canada or Scotland. I only hear lefties claim it does. Are you a lefty or an MSM reporter?
Huckabee was second in Oklahoma in 2008. Santorum won in 2012. They were perceived at the time to be the alternatives to the Establishment RINOs. Oklahoma should go to Cruz. The question is how well will the GOP’s road map work.
Yes it was the only 100% red state. Utah joined us in 2012 (maybe the Mormon thing..).
Single payer is NOT working in Canada- the only thing they like about it is that its free.
But when they need actual care, they hate it. Look at many of the border hospitals- they have lots of Canadian patients who have the money to come to the USA for treatment.
Look, I’m not defending single payer. I’m only clarifying what was said. I don’t live in either country, so other than what I read - I have no way of knowing if it works well or not. I have to assume it doesn’t, but, as I said - I don’t live there. People read into things what they want - and that’s the problem with the media - they misinterpret what people say, and then readers misinterpret what they read. Cognitive skills are so lacking.
You heard what you wanted to hear. He said he will repeal it and replace it with Health savings plans, as an option and also work to have insurance available across state lines. This is EXACTLY what he said on Hannity’s program, which will be re-aired tonight. You might want to tune in to straighten out your misconceptions and lies.

Thanks for correcting the misstatement made about what Trump said on healthcare. Some never get tired of trying to distort the facts,
I read the TW article on-line and didn't see a word about this interaction. I don't know if that proves anything but thought you might be interested. It could fall either way - the reporter chose not to include it due to being called out or it wasn't the TW reporter.

I know this doesn't sound very Conservative. We gotta take care of everybody, not just the people up here. We gotta take care of everybody. Okay! Get used to it, Conservatives. I love you, Conservatives. Get used to it. Let's take care of everybody, please. And by the way Obamacare doesn't!
