Steve King: “It would be foolish” for Trump to rule out 3rd party run
Radio Iowa ^ | August 12, 2015 | O. Kay Henderson

Posted on 08/13/2015 5:07:31 PM PDT by ObamahatesPACoal

Congressman Steve King intends to endorse one of the 17 Republican presidential candidates “sometime later in the fall” and Donald Trump seems to be at or near the top of his list.

“I think it’s fascinating to the world how Donald Trump can continue being Donald Trump and instead of getting weaker, he’s getting stronger,” King said.

(SNIP) And King said that description applies to both his son, Jeff, and to Senator Cruz. In another corner, however, is King’s former chief of staff, Chuck Laudner. Laudner is Donald Trump’s state director.

(SNIP)

. “Furthermore, some of the efforts on many in the party will be to try to marginalize Donald Trump. Well, if they push him…the fear that he might run as a third-party candidate tends to restrain those who might marginalize him.”

King is normally a party loyalist.

King played games with Tokyo Rove while trolling Boehner, Gowdy and others on amnesty.

"King's substantial lead over Latham has a lot to do with his appeal to 'very conservative' voters- they prefer him by a 61/19 margin. But even with moderates King edges Latham 37/35."

They ended up with Joni Ernst which was okay.

It would be foolish of Trump to rule out a 3rd party run. Is he running to be a republican president or president of the USA?

I do not pledge anything; I do not have a crystal ball, and I do not know what the future holds.

Once you agree to support whatever they do you lose all leverage.

“RINOs endorse RINOs.”

Steve King is ABSOLUTELY NOT a RINO.
He is a fire breathing conservative; on of the lefts top targets.
One of the most conservative; pro Constitution; pro borders people in DC.
Put his name in Google.

Agreed but we have some posters who have no greater goal in life than to destroy the GOP. They don’t appear to have any plan beyond that.

Steve King is the furthest thing from a RINO that there is. He has been the leader in the House on the immigration issue, legal and illegal. The GOPe and Boehner have punished him because he has challenged them. They have tried to marginalize him.

Righto. I think people confuse Iowa Congressman Steve King with NY Congressman Peter King. PK is a RINO. Steve King took on the Speaker Boner. SK also takes on the immigration issue quite a bit, and sounds similar to Trump in that regard. Trump and SK are certainly aligned on the immigration issue.

You sir are an idiot. Steve King is a rebel who has been fighting the GOPe and the Dems for years. He is someone of great integrity and principle. I have worked closely with him on the immigration issue. It was King who tried to get Obamacare defunded when it actually could have been done. The GOPe hates him, Boehner deprived him of a chairmanship he should had. McConnell did the same thing to Jeff Sessions in the Senate. King works closely with Sessions and Vitter.

King will endorse an anti-establishment candidate. It will either be Trump or Cruz. Count on it.

King has been great on Obamacare as well. He is one of the most conservative members of Congress, a defender of the Constitution. He has authored and sponsored all kinds of immigration bills to eliminate birthright citizenship, reduce legal immigration, eliminate the visa lottery program, curtail H-1B visas, etc.

He’s running to see a Democrat in the WH. He talks to push buttons to carve out a portion of the GOP. It’s all vague all the time.

I suspect King will endorse Cruz eventually. I know Tancredo has. The only one missing would be Duncan Hunter Sr.

Let’s face reality. The Donald will go third party if he doesn’t win the GOP nomination. Anyone who thinks he’ll go quietly into the night if he loses is kidding themselves. That said, he can’t keep getting a free pass from the other candidates.
