Going on 36 years.

Carter ushered out a great ally, and in the Ayatollahs.

Then he refused access to the Shah.

It angered me considerably at the time, because I knew he was screwing things up royally.

Our allies watched as we betrayed the Shah. The vicious nature of the betrayal was just too much for words.

Carter loved to play himself off as this really nice Sunday School teacher. He showed his true colors.

Then he refused access to the Shah.

I remember the Shah being exiled to Egypt and then reports of his NHL cancer....I also remember Jimmy Carter deciding to admit the Shah to the US for treatment, against advice from Embassy and State Department staff.
