It sure didn’t help when the authorities acted the way they did. There was video of one outspoken and grieving woman who was stuck with a syringe and drugged by a government agent during her protest. It is somewhere here on FR.
From what I understand, from my Husband, a submarine officer of 27 yrs, is that the Kursk was at an angle that any kind of rescue device could not be used to lock onto the hatches to bring anyone to the surface. (this conversation was 15 yrs ago. My memory is not the best)
It scared me at the time because I was naïve enough to believe we had the technology, that this could never happen to an American sub. But my Husband informed me that I was wrong.
