As pressure builds on Hillary Clinton to explain her official use of personal email while serving as secretary of state, she faced new complications Tuesday. It was disclosed her top aides are being drawn into a burgeoning federal inquiry and that two emails on her private account have been classified as “Top Secret.”
The inspector general for the Intelligence Community notified senior members of Congress that two of four classified emails discovered on the server Clinton maintained at her New York home contained material deemed to be in one of the highest security classifications – more sensitive than previously known…
Despite the acknowledgment, the State Department inspector general’s office has left numerous unanswered questions, including exactly who and what is being investigated. The office initially declined to comment and referred questions to the Intelligence Community inspector general’s office, which said it is not currently involved in any inquiry into aides and is being denied full access to aides’ emails by the State Department. Clinton, herself, is not a target.
McClatchy’s looser with its language there than I’d prefer given the stakes. I think they mean that “top secret” messages were found on the server, which hosted not just Hillary’s private e-mail account but accounts used by some of her top cronies, including Huma Abedin. Finding a “top secret” e-mail in Hillary’s own account would be more damning than finding it elsewhere on the server since it would mean she was knowingly trafficking in top-secret info. If the messages are in Abedin’s account, Clinton can claim, implausibly or not, that she had no idea the server was being used for such things and that Huma’s the one to blame for the breach, not her. That would be a preposterous defense given that they weren’t supposed to be using a private e-mail server to begin with and that Hillary, by setting one up and encouraging her lackeys to use it, knew the risk that classified info would end up there in the course of official correspondence, but that’s the defense that’ll be used. The staffer with the account will take the fall and Clinton, who wants to be trusted with national security after taking secret State Department business off the federal grid and onto her own rinky dink private network, will plead “disappointment” in her underling and vow to do better in the future. And no voter will bat an eye when she gets a wrist slap because that’s just how things work and everyone knows it. If you polled the public right now and asked how many expected Hillary to receive any criminal penalty whatsoever for her recklessness in insisting on a private server, how many would say yes? Maybe 20 percent, the most hopelessly idealistic suckers in the electorate? If you’re looking for an illustration of Trump’s eff-it-all appeal, there’s one.
Besides, why punish Hillary when the Chinese have been reading the private e-mails of “many” top Obama officials for the last five years? There’s another potential excuse for her: She’s no more negligent than any other top bureaucrat who foolishly chose to use private e-mail platforms. Singling her out for special scrutiny is just the vast right-wing conspiracy at work again. Don’t you feel bad that you’re putting her through this?
Update: If there’s a smoking gun somewhere, the feds should have it now.
A U.S. official says the FBI has taken possession of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s emails, a few of which have been deemed to contain classified information.
The official is not authorized to be quoted by name and requested anonymity.
The official says the FBI recovered two thumb drives containing the emails from Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall.
Considering how hard she has worked to scrub that server. Two missed is better than none.
When will it be time for her “pretty in pink” press conference?

This is mind-boggling. Entire laboratories have been brought to their knees for much less than this. If a mere mortal did this, it would set off a fire alarm like you wouldn’t believe.

One of the biggest Boehner stooges, Devin Nunes, runs the House Intel committee. He’ll protect Hillary no doubt.
I can imagine Mrs. Clinton explaining the “eighteen and a half minute gap” in her emails. Was it “some sinister force”? Will she invite some elderly senator who is half blind to review the emails and report on what he saw? Will she claim “executive privilege” to avoid turning them over to Congress? Will the press be full of cartoons of Clinton aide Huma Abudin stretching to copy the emails while she talks on the phone and thereby erases some of the key information a la Rosemary Woods? Will the press clamor for a special prosecutor, a sort of reverse Archibald Cox, a conservative law professor? None of this worked for Richard Nixon and Mrs. Clinton was one of his biggest critics.
You forgot “VRWC” in the litany...those emails were planted on her server.
What are you trying to do? Stir the pot of partisanship and draw those two nice leaders, McConnell and Boehner, into this?? Just when they are getting good publicity for their party from the Times, Was. Post, Newsweek? Do you want to interfere with McConnell’s golf game or Boehner’s drinking? How dare you, for such matters of so little importance.
She should be charged for everybody that touched that thumb drive without the appropriate security clearance.
I thought a sample of 40 of clinton account e mails was drawn and 4 of the 40 included classified information. Further, two of the 4 contained info that was classified Top Secret.
There is no hidding or clintonfuscation that can undamn the situation
There will be a state funeral for Hillary after the massive stroke takes her from us.
The FBI took over the billion dollar losses of Solyndra and other bankrupt solar firms. Nothing happened after that.
I doubt much will happen after this.
Keep in mind that these two were part of a very small sample - forty emails - that have been examined. Four of the forty, including these two, were determined to contain classified information. That’s ten percent of the sample. If that same percentage holds true for the thousands of emails that were contained on Hillary ‘s server, it represents a massive security breach.
I had a secret clearance in the submarine force....my testes would be in my throat if i was caught relaying or in personal possession of that material.
How’s she going to worm her way out of this?
