From the “Little House” to the Congress? It could happen for Livingston County resident Melissa Gilbert.

Gilbert, star of the hit 1970s television series, “Little House on the Prairie” on Monday announced she would run as a Democrat for the 8th District Congressional seat in next year’s election.

The news thrilled area Democrats.

“I think it’s very, very exciting news,” said county party chairwoman Judy Daubenmier,

“We worked with her on the Schauer campaign (for governor) and, I can tell you, she’s a real trooper. She’ll be a very effective campaigner.”

That show started basically when I was born. I remember it was “must watch” in the house.

No way would a show like “Little House” get made today, at least by a major network.

It featured:

*Strong faith in God.
*Strong father who was the head of the family. Not a buffoon or punchline like “the father” typically is cast as in most shows and ads.
*Strong family. The wife was nails.
*Patriotic.
*Strong friends.
*Strong community that all attended church together every Sunday.

IOW, pretty much the >>EXACT OPPOSITE<< of what’s “normal” today.

Correct, it would never happen.

The funny thing was she was married to Bruce Boxeleitner who is apparently a conservative and was good friends with Jerry Doyle.

That was a few husbands back.

Boxleitner is in there somewhere with Reagan and Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rooney, Mel Torme, and Buddy Ebsen.

Yeah, I watched it religiously as a kid when it was on in prime time. When they did one of the follow up tv movies where they blew up the town, I was in tears. :-(

They couldn’t do “The Waltons” today, either.

Grandpa and Grandma Walton’s actors were both homosexual. Put that into their characters and you have the Walton’s reboot!

I don’t think you could do “Full House” today (without the obvious, Danny Tanner and his lover Joey take in Danny’s kids after the single female friend he donated sperm to dies, homophobic uncle Jesse tries to stop them!). I recently watched a few episodes of “My Wife and Kids” circa 2001 cause I was bored, I don’t think you make that today either. Hell, even “Married With Children” is too wholesome (and well written).

Family sitcoms have a few rules now. Chief among them seems to be “dad has to be Homer Simpson retarded”, “mom has to carry around dad’s balls in her purse”, and “someone has to be queer”.

I remember that episode. Some land Barron laid claim to Walnut Grove; they went scorched earth.

There’s a lesson right there.

“The Waltons”, 2015: Two male poofs, their poodles and adopted 3rd world kids, all living in a “green” housing development. One poof is in marketing, the other is an English Lit prof. at the local community college.

Gag.

Ellen Corby was a lesbian ? I know she was married. Will Geer was married, too, though I’m sure the wife knew he was into men. He was a big Commie, too.

They’re supposedly set to bring back “Full House.” Personally, I thought it strange you had 3 guys living in one of the “Painted Ladies” in San Francisco and they weren’t fags.

I’m frankly sick of that they have to have a gay character on almost every single show now. I saw ads for “Quantico”, which is ludicrous on its face. Absurdly hot Indian model playing a gubmint agent and some fag agents. It’s no wonder when they did some “man on the street” interviews at some Queer gathering with straights thinking that they made up 50% of the population when it may only be closer to 2%.

Wikipedia doesn’t mention it for Corby but I have read it

https://wizzley.com/the-real-waltons/

Geer was lover to some far-left labor figure. Disgusting.

Ralph Waite was a commie too.

Yep.

No way could “Married” be made today...WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY too un-PC.

Fathers, especially white fathers, have been turned into barely functioning, semi-retarded clowns for years now in the media. Powerless, stupid and subservient to the wife, kids and pets. Their purpose is to work to give money to the aforementioned leeches and to be ridiculed.

“Jamal & Friends” starts in 5!

Yes, white fathers should be ridiculed for staying in the home, and supporting their families.

Right, Hollywood.
