I keep getting Zombie and Vampire movies when I look for the idioms “blood in her eyes.”

IN a comment in class, I used the old expression, “(Actor Z) `didn’t care a fig’ about the consequences of his actions ...” (it was a suitable reference under the circumstances) but my lefty professor thought I was swearing.
Facing discipline myself, it was difficult for her instead in front of the department head when I produced a literary source for the expression and explained its application to these Phids.

I worked in a steel fabrication shop in which the sandblaster operators would have the whites of their eyes completely blood red! Very unnerving to look at.

Im really surprise a people the content they never heard of expression “blood in their eyes”... is goes along with “seeing(saw) red”.I did not think in that statement Trump was saying Kelly was “Ragging” on him.....

Let face facts..Kelly was out to get Trump.. she was not a debate "moderator"( there to moderate.. be a umpire between the candidates) she was a full on partisan GOPe attack dog... aka the GOPe's "pit bull bitch"...and Kelly deserves to be attacked back by Trump...

I can't believe Rush Limbaugh said he hadn't ever heard it.

I believe Rush was referring to the "blood coming out of her wherever" part of the blood quote. Rush said he didn't think of menstruation until later, when he observed the shocked reactions.

Donald Trump to Erick Erickson: Get your mind out of the gutter!

“I can’t believe Rush Limbaugh said he hadn’t ever heard it.”

I can’t either. I have heard the expression on occasion throughout my life.

I think Trump, outspoken as he is, would have expressed “on the rag”, if that is what he really meant.

I’ll be sixty next month, and have spent most of my life within a couple hundred miles of Rush’s hometown, and had the radio on when he said it.

I’m pretty sure that was exactly what he said and how he meant it - because I don’t often hear things I’m not familiar with, and I don’t remember ever hearing it before.

Maybe it’s just not a common expression in the Midwest. Seeing red is very common around here.

Seeing red is common everywhere, including Cape G. Of course, seeing red is a less vivid metaphor than blood coming out one's eyes.

But I stand corrected. Rush admitted to not getting either part of the quote. I guess I just couldn't believe he didn't get the first part.

From today's transcript, titled "Get Back to the Issues, Mr. Trump":

RUSH:  Okay.  Now, when that... I'm just gonna be honest: When I first heard that comment, I was clueless.  I had no idea.  "What in the world is he talking about?"  Blood coming out of her eyes?  You know, I'm the mayor of Realville.  I didn't see any blood coming out of her eyes. And then "blood coming out of wherever"?  Honestly, I did not associate it with anything.  I drew a total blank.  I don't know what blood in your eyes even means.

But the blood... (interruption) No, I'm just... Look, I know I'm making myself out to be Mr. Naive.  But I had no idea. I had literally no clue what that was. I didn't figure it out 'til I saw other people say what they thought it meant, and then I said, "Oh!  No wonder everybody's upset about this."  But I didn't.  I'm just shooting you straight.  I don't mind admitting that whatever this is, naivete or whatever, but I just did not think it.

You know, it's not something I think about all the time.  It's so seldom on my mind that it's not anywhere near the forefront of my mind. And then, lo and behold, I'm doing show prep over the weekend, and guess what I find?  People magazine.  There's a new trend.  It's called "free bleeding," where a woman does not use feminine products when she's menstruating.  It's apparently a new thing, and People magazine thinks it's absolutely fabulous.
