Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' insurgent campaign for president received a big boost Sunday when as many as 28,000 showed up for a high-decibel rally at the Moda Center.

The crowd packed the basketball arena – with a capacity of up to 19,000 -- as thousands more couldn't get inside and listened in on loudspeakers. A Moda Center official, Michael Lewellen, estimated the crowd at the free event totaled 28,000.

What is surreal about this entire experience is that there is nothing free market or capitalistic about our problems. Our problems as a country are because of socialistic over-regulation creating perverse incentives and market distortions. Yet because the socialists control the narrative, they pull out the 1% straw man and attack him daily.

Our GOP has not addressed this lie and it is gaining momentum until it ushers in the Antichrist (if he has not already been ushered in)...

They, like many people here, believe that the system is broken and they are not represented. This is just a different alternative. Historically, when times are unstable, people look for radical alternatives.

Why are people attracted to socialism?

It wouldn’t surprise me if Portland schools are not teaching students about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers as the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood.

The thing is in Communist countries, it was more like Nothing for Something. You work only to have to wait in line for hours to get anything.

Meanwhile, Hillary! is still meeting in Coffee Shops with about a dozen ‘screened and vetted’ Democrat Staffers and even THEIR questions are pre-approved, LOL!

I don’t want Sanders, but I DO want Hillary! to be toast.

And then in prison.

The fruits, flakes, and nuts are pouring out of the fever swamps of the left to cheer Bernard on. The only candidate that might excite these leftist zealots more than Bernard might be Castro, Maduro, or Mugabe.

“The senator received waves of thunderous applause as he vowed to fight for universal health benefits, paid family leave, paid sick leave, free public college tuition, a $15 minimum wage, expanded Social Security benefits and a major public works program to rebuild crumbling infrastructure.”

That just about sums it up.

CPUSA and hard left foundations have to be bussing in bodies to manufacture an “America wants socialism” optic. There’s nothing even slightly dynamic or attractive about Sanders that would otherwise explain these numbers.

Time to face the facts. A sizeable number of your fellow citizens want these things. Perhaps close to half. Not a good thing but I think that's the current reality.

At least Bernie said we shouldn’t be allowing immigrants in that take our jobs, need to take care of our own first.

He's one for seven. I suppose even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

Lord knows that we need rebuild our roads, bridges, power grid, water and sewer, ports, pipelines, airports, etc etc ad infinitum. Most of what's in place is stretched to capacity, or worse. And, these are things that government is actually supposed to take care of.

BO's Trillion-Dollar 2009 boondoggle could have gone a long way to fixing our infrastructure, but it got spent on political graft and puppet museums, instead. One reaps what one sows.

Better someone with whom I disagree who says what he means and means what he says than a shiftless, clueless and spineless sack of crap who merely has a particular letter after their name. I’d rather be stabbed from the front than the back.

Malcolm X had more respect for Barry Goldwater than Lyndon Johnson. I’ve got more respect for Bernie than Jeb.
