CLEVELAND, Ohio -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul threw down during Thursday's GOP presidential debate in Cleveland.
The three-minute, heated exchange began after Christie, while responding to a question about government surveillance, said that he tried to respect citizens' civil liberties while he helped investigate cases while he served as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
"I will make no apologies whatsoever for protecting the lives of the American people," Christie said.
Paul responded, to applause from his supporters: "I want to collect more records from terrorists, but less records from innocent Americans. The Fourth Amendment [which prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures] is what we fought the revolution over. John Adams said it was the spark that led to our war for Independence. And I'm proud to stand for our Bill of Rights, and I will continue to stand for our Bill of Rights."
Christie shot back, calling Paul's response "completely ridiculous."
"How are you supposed to know?" Christie asked, his voice raising.
"Use the Fourth Amendment," Paul said loudly, talking over Christie. "Use the Fourth Amendment. Get a warrant! Get a judge to sign a warrant!"
The two talked over each other some more.
"You know, when you're sitting in a [Congressional] subcommittee, just blowing hot air about this, you can say things like that," Christie said to Paul. "But when you're responsible for protecting the lives of the American people, you can make sure to use the system the way it's supposed to work."
"Here's the problem governor," Paul said, cutting in. "You fundamentally misunderstand the Bill of Rights. Every time you did a case, you got a warrant from a judge. I'm talking about searches without warrants, indiscriminately of all Americans' records. That's what I fought to end."

Rand Paul went for the jugular.
He said this :
“I don’t trust President Obama with our records,” Paul continued. “I know you gave President Obama a big hug, and if you want to give him a big hug again, you go right ahead.”
OUCH!!

christie is totally gone. He was booed out of his race track in new jersey and he was booed out of my house. Pathetic. Paul whipped his very fat ass.
Two guys with bad hairdos
That’s actually a pretty good line, Paul managed to slip Obama and two mentions of “The Hug” in there.
Yeah, Paul needs to buzz his hair. The Jerry curls aren’t doing him any favors.
Christie is nothing more than a grimy and slimy slug.
