Had a girlfriend who lived in DeLand, FL when I was young and sometimes we’d go out to nearby Casa Dega and drive through the neighborhood. Very weired vibe in that place.

“Most wiccans are just liberal flakes. They worst they do is sex oriented and is voluntary. Never heard of any ritual killings for that practice.”

Not really, I know lots of Wiccans. Some of the bigger mouths definitely lean liberal(don't they always), but lot of them here in Georgia are actually conservative. I have noticed there are many military people involved. While some covens or groves are very sexual and go into excesses, most do not. Lord Merlin who was the most respected Wiccan in the state of Georgia was a very brilliant man. He was Professor emeritus of Philosophy at Emory and held 5 doctorates while being able to read 27 languages. He was also very much a conservative and a Republican to the point of being a an “unreconstructed Southerner”.Most are actually very working class and have those sensibilities. Now if you go into California or New England that is different. A lot just depends on where you are.

“Ancient blue moon ritual” - bull$hit. The definition of the second full moon in a calendar month as a blue moon started as a mistake in the pages of Sky and Telescope magazine in 1946. As a “tradition” it’s less than 70 years old, and did not even take off until the 1980’s when it became a question in the board game Trivial Pursuit.

The Romans were the first to use the Julian calendar, where months are decoupled from the phase of the moon. Few people or civilizations anywhere used a calendar with months were different than lunations. Therefore, there were never two full months in any ancient traditional calendars. Total bosh.

Gee, who knew? A homicide committed three days BEFORE the blue moon is somehow related to the blue moon? (Eye roll)

"Most wiccans are just liberal flakes. They worst they do is sex oriented and is voluntary."

I was just wondering, how do they do that? Besides most of them being local government employees, administrators and owners and managers of government-connected services in a small town on the CO mountains, they're big. I mean they are huge. They walk like Teletubbies but much slower. Strange, especially those in uniforms. And how do the doctors keep them alive?

Oh Yeah?!

Then how do you explain the song of that title written in the 1930s?

Blue moon
you saw me standing alone
without a dream in my heart
without a love of my own

The Guardian, I know, Libs, but they are running an article “Wicca Experts slam Sheriff over calling triple murder witchcraft”

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/aug/05/wicca-florida-sheriff-triple-murder-witchcraft

Someone said Satanism or Santeria, sounds possible.

If Hell is the loneliness of being without God while His eternal transcendence goes on, is that not Hell enough?

“According to old folklore,” some people say, the second full Moon in a calendar month is called a “blue Moon.” They go on to explain that this is the origin of the expression “once in a blue Moon.” But it isn’t true! The term “blue Moon” has been around a long time, well over 400 years, but its calendrical meaning has become widespread only in the last 25 years. - See more at: http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/celestial-objects-to-watch/once-in-a-blue-moon/#sthash.AHy8R1iR.dpuf

I’m not sure I follow you. “Blue moon” meaning the second full moon in a month with two full moons is very old.

No, the phrase “blue moon” may be old, but applying it to that specific meaning has only arisen in the last couple of centuries. So no ancient religions even knew of the notion, much less applied any significance to it. (Wicca isn’t exactly ancient, but bases itself on some more ancient traditions)
