Roy P. Benavidez remembered! A GREAT Mexican-American

This man must be remembered for what he said and for what he stood for. Suprisingly, the liberal left seems to have forgotten this man already. Roy P. Benavidez. Donald Trump might very well show honor to the productive Hispanic citizens living here by resurrecting his memory.

The liberal left, Rep. Gutierrez and other haters of the United States have forgotten the REAL contributions of a Mexican-American hero. Come on, Trump, TALK about him!!!

I can't read his story enough. A great American.

Any man that takes a knife into a gunfight and wins is a true stud. Chuck Norris beware!

RIP MSG.

What’s the point of this?

I get the point.

Are the “What’s the point” mod?

It would be nice if Trump and/or Cruz brought him up as an example of a GREAT and HONORABLE American who loved his country and fought well for it. It would be good if they showed an EXAMPLE of what positive effect can come from immigration and at least a child of immigrants assimilating into the society, learning to love the country and having the right values. Does that answer your question?

Thanks for posting this!

I remember when Reagan gave him his MOH. But reading about him again, I realize I hadn't fully taken it in before. (How could anyone?) Awesome post.

I think we have to much of all immigration, legal and illegal.

This person was very brave for sure. What Mexico needs is brave Mexican patriots like him to fight the corruption there. I am grateful for his service but this doesn't change my mind about the flood of Mexicans into the USA. Sorry nice try.

Do we need to refer to him as a hyphenated American? Do we refer to Audie Murphy as an Irish-American hero?

Roy P. Benavidez was a great American hero, period.

Roy wrote a book called ‘Medal of Honor’. I have it on my shelf within arm’s reach.

I had the honor of meeting him and getting his book signed before he passed away. De oppresso liber.

Benavidez was born in the US. His parents were born in the US. Having a Spanish last name does not and should not be reason for people to assume you are illegal. The majority of Hispanics in the US can trace their roots here years before the Jamestown settlement or the Pilgrim landing. My family has been in New Mexico since 1598.
MSgt Benavidez gave more for this country than most ever will.

Then he is a great American. No hyphen. Being of Mexican descent has/had nothing to do with it. Sick of La Raza attitudes.
