A standing-room only crowd filled the Farmersville High School auditorium Tuesday for a town hall meeting about a proposed Muslim-owned cemetery outside of town. Much of the talk focused on negativity toward, and fear of, Islam.
I dont like your religion, and I dont even classify it as a religion, said one man who spoke at the meeting.
Sometimes evil comes in sheeps clothing, so that kind of bothers me, a woman announced.
Some residents in Farmersville are upset about plans to build an Islamic cemetery. People arrived Tuesday to a town hall meeting on the topic. (Published Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015)
Exactly what Peace are you talking about? asked one man, referring to recent acts of violence committed in the United States and abroad by members of the Muslim faith.
The concern comes after the Islamic Association of Collin County purchased a 35-acre plot along Highway 380 with the intention of building a cemetery that would accommodate members from its five mosques, as well as members of the general public.
We never put anything out saying this is a Muslim-only cemetery. Its just owned by the Muslim community, said Khalil Abdur-Rashid, a spokesperson for the Islamic Association of Collin County, to a member of the crowd after Tuesdays meeting.
Rashid told NBCDFW he believed the concerns from the community were not about the cemetery, specifically.
This is about misinformation, and fear and hate. And until we confront that, in open honesty, it will continue to persist, Rashid said.
In previous communication with local leaders, the IACC vowed that there would be no terrorist activity on the site, there would be no training center there and the group had no plans to build a mosque in the area.
In addition, when asked Tuesday night whether the property on which the cemetery would be built will adhere to Sharia law Islamic law Rashid told the crowd that, No. They will adhere to Texas law.
Prior to Tuesdays town hall meeting, the Rev. David Meeks, pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Farmersville, told NBCDFW he is adamantly opposed to the cemetery.
Some people dont want to be called an Islamophobe, or a bigot or a hater that kind of thing. But this is a real problem, man, Meeks said. This is something that is going on in the world and only getting worse. And I see it to be a great problem.
The anger and vitriol that I heard tonight, I think, has to, folks have to speak their minds, Rashid told NBCDFW. But I think we also have to address it. And I think we also have to say, Hey, listen. At some point youve gotta stop peddling the rhetoric.
Since the site is outside city limits, there is ultimately little that can be done to prevent it from being built.
That accusation always cracked me up when the media would make the accusation. By definition, a phobia is an IRRATIONALK fear of something. There is nothing irrational about fearing the people that practice radical Islam. And there are hundreds of millions of them that believe in radical Islam and jihad.
The EPA had better be contacted and an environmental impact statement prepared because Muslims are put in the ground wrapped in a sheet without any sort of casket. The ground water could be contaminated.
The people in that community need to throw the crap right back at them.
I read somewhere that the AMC channel was going to produce a spin-off TV series called the Walking Muslim Dead.
the cemetery would be okay with me if we could fill it now
I have heard of Muslims scouting out rural parts of Texas to establish colonies the past year. I guess this would be one of their ways to shove their foot in he door in an area where Muslims are not welcomed.

Oh yeah? People can get pretty resourceful when motivated
That was used to deny a proposed Muslim cemetery close to where I live.
use as a repository for bacon wrappers, pig fat trimmings and excess pig blood.
Hey moosie F,
up yours
Nice. Hehehe.
I imagine it wouldn't be too long before someone from Farmville donated a coupla swine to the cemetery. d;^)
Why do they deliberately move into the areas where they are likely to engender the greatest conflict?
Does anybody believe muslims really want to live anywhere in the bible belt? Or is it because, as they forcibly exclude Christian from their homelands, they want to ensure there is no area in the US (or anywhere) where they are absent?
I would support all of Palestine and most of Mosul as Muslim cemeteries. Perhaps Karachi could also be so re-purposed.

These must have been the two smartest people in the room!
They’ve already got a “training camp” in Sweeny, Texas which is only about 20 miles from Freeport which houses part of the National Strategic Oil Reserves. It’s about 50 miles from Texas City which has a HUGE petro industry. Also only about 50 miles from downtown Houston.
Palestine? Where is that? I don’t know of any country or region called ‘palestine’? Sounds made up.
I’ve heard of Israel. Before that it was called Judea and Sidon.
Check your atlas and make sure it wasn’t printed in Riyadh. ;)
FWIW, cats like to bury their feces in soft dirt or sand. I hear Saudi Arabia has thousands of square miles of the stuff.
The Muslims know that the South is the hardest part of the country so they are taking baby steps there trying to stick their foot in the door while chanting, “We come in peace and mean you no harm; we are just like you” lulling the naive of the locals and the softer minded into a pacifist state while still rolling along with their plans. I believe the South is harder to conquer because of their strong belief in God which gives them the discernment to know good from evil. The other states up north where God is not important to the same degree as in the south are pretty heavily settled with Muslims with little resistance. I guess the northern states believe they are peaceful. We know this is just the Muslims laying low and practicing Taqiyya while importing more of them with the assistance of the WH until their numbers reach critical mass. When the Muslims cast off their gilly suits and take off their masks its going to get ugly.
It is, about the misinformation that taqiyya engenders, and the fear of the hate that this movement founded by a thief, murderer and pedophile propagates.
Since 9/11, the number of muslims in America has TRIPLED.
That is not immigration. That is invasion.
