If there are too many of them and not enough food animals around because of a drought or something they are.

That’s not the situation in Africa. In Africa lions are endangered, not overpopulated.

Why not a restriction on small life game killing.

The 17th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America will hopefully be as dead as the Zimbabwe lion.

That presumes a God, of course.

Don’t the commie lib ‘RATS have anything better than this to do? I’m just glad Cecil was “gay” and shacked up with another male lion. The whole world would be hysterical. People really need to put down their “smart” phones and get a friggin’ JOB!!!

Good thing there are no problems in America to occupy the Senate’s time.

My B-I-L has the perfect answer:

Claims he is Pro-Choice for lions.

Those who believe a lion is a human being with a soul and don't want them killed can just wish they stayed alive. They can protest every year on the anniversary of Cecil's death.

Those who believe they're soulless lumps of tissue can just blow their brains out.

I believe he's got it!

Wrong. Put down the WWF crack pipe. African lions are NOT endangered. Sheesh. DU is calling your name...

I lived 8 years in Africa. Do you even know where Zimbabwe is?

And “Scientific American” - wow. Please quote National Geographic too. These are leftist weenies who wouldn’t know what is like to live in African outside of a 5 star hotel, or a $5,000 a day “safari.”

Did you even bother to read the article? It talks about a permitting system for trophy hunting to verify that they come from appropriately stocked areas.

Here’s the US government page on the plan:

Anyone who has ever been to Africa knows that there is no such thing as a “system” - all that is exists is corruption.

“Appropriately stocked areas”? You have to be kidding, right? Do you know the percentage of PAVED ROADS in Zimbabwe? Or even roads that can be traveled year round? Do you think there are fenced reserves etc. The entire country is a cesspool of corruption, and what “infrastructure” ever existed 50 years ago makes rural Montana look like something out of the future.

The dentist’s $50,000 was way too much - but it likely could feed 1,000 people for a year.

Oh, and BTW, any url that ends with .gov is not what someone should cite on FR.

My suggestion is to import a few dozen threatened lions and turn them loose in New York, Baltimore and other urban areas, with protections that the animals cannot be harmed or molested in any way. In 20 years or so, you will have more lions than you can count.

“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had suggested the African lion be listed as “threatened” in October, but has yet to confirm the listing.”

Probably will list it because no one has seen a lion in the wild of NJ in eons, which would surely make it at a minimum endangered or threatened.
