In conversations with his campaign staffers and allies, Cruz often points to Romney as the embodiment of a timid, weak Republican Party. And in a private speech in May to the Council for National Policy, a secretive group of top conservative donors and activists, Cruz colorfully described Romney as the worst possible candidate Republicans could have nominated in 2012.
"We have had three elections since President Obama was elected. Two of them2010 and 2014were national referenda on Obamacare. It was the No. 1 issue, twice. Both elections were tsunami, tidal-waves for Republicanshistoric victories," Cruz said, according to an audio recording of the event obtained by National Journal.
"Now, in between the two tidal waves, the Republican Party, in its infinite wisdom, sought out and found the one human being on the face of the planet who had designed and implemented a program just like Obamacare. Literallythere are 7 billion people on Earth. You could have grabbed any other person and asked them, 'Excuse me, sir, have you designed and implemented Obamacare? No? You're a better candidate!'"

on a Texas radio show, Cruz mocked Romney's tweet about Iran and said the 2012 nominee "got clobbered" by Obama because he was afraid to "stand up and speak the truth."
OK, never mind. I'll just kind of rearrange the pencil on the podium here,'" Cruz said in a feeble voice, impersonating Romney, when recalling his exchange with Obama over Benghazi during a 2012 debate.
"When you send billions of dollars to jihadists trying to kill Americans, you bear responsibility for the murder that they carry out with the money you have given them. ... One of the reasons why Republicans keep getting clobbered, we have leaders like Mitt Romney and like Jeb Bush who are afraid to say that."

And this is the best line ever!!
"'OK, never mind. I'll just kind of rearrange the pencil on the podium here,'"
Gosh, I LOVE that Man!
Love Cruz.
I fully believe this is in Cruz’ heart....but it’s ALSO very shrewd politics. Romney is a hated figure by the base due to the wimpy campaign he ran (and other reasons). There’s a few candidates in the field who were big Romney bots in 2012.......Cruz never fell for Mitt, nor Obama....just sayin...
Its certainly stirring things up.
Here in Michigan Mitt’s niece is a GOP national committeeman and Cruz’s Michigan campaign director is the Michigan GOP grassroots outreach director.
Indeed.
There was so much that Romney could have done to defeat Obama.
Benghazi was a gift on a gold platter, and he didn’t take it.
Not that he would have been much better, but Zero has done MOST of his damage in the second term.
We could have been spared a lot of that.
Yep, but beyond the comment about the debate, Benghazi and the pencil....is the comment about the single worst person to run against Obama Care.
Think about it. Who in the Republican field has been a big supporter of single payor universal care in the past? This is brilliant seed for him to plant.....
Oh I hear you!
I’m from MA, and i loathed Romney from day one.
What can I say?
LOL
Romney is a fool.
So many, though, are Rove-Jebbie admirers who like Mittens.
Somebody needs to organize a committee called “Americans Against a Third Bush”.
Exactly right. The RNC runs the exact wrong candidate. In 2008, a non-amnesty candidate could have won after TWO amnesty attepts had enraged the public. The RNC had to have McAmnesty. In 2012 Obamacare was the hot topic, so of course they had to have to one guy who invented it.
This time around, again amnesty and open borders are THE issue and the RNC is determined to run ¡Yeb! who is promising amnesty for illegal aliens and turning the USA into North Mexico.
The election season FReepers are always “concerned” about the conservatives.
LMAO!
I'm dying. Ted, I love you, LOL.
While in Boston in 2014, we took a bus tour with a lady driver who hates the liberalism of MA politics. She was very knowledgeable in her historic remarks. She loathed how she seldom if ever has anyone for whom she can vote.
Now when I see that on the forum, I do a google search of the person's Freep name combined with "Romney" to see if they were defending him in years past.
If Romney entered the race, Cruz would welcome him like a Walmart door greeter.
