Most GOP hopefuls skeptical of climate change caused by humans

WASHINGTON — Rick Santorum calls climate change “a beautifully concocted scheme.” Senator Ted Cruz contends no climate change has been recorded in the last 15 years, bluntly declaring, “It hasn’t happened.”

Ben Carson, a renowned neurosurgeon, has said, “We may be warming. We may be cooling.” Former Florida governor Jeb Bush grants that climate change is real, but he’s unwilling to say it is caused by humans.

Donald Trump, meanwhile, sees a conspiracy: “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing noncompetitive.”

Most of the 17 Republicans running for president are skeptical about climate change caused by humans, a stance that appears to line up with conservative voters who hold sway in the GOP primary contest.

But it jeopardizes their chances with the broader swath of voters who will determine the winner of the general election — and Democrats are ready to take advantage of that opportunity. View Story Where the GOP candidates stand

Most of the 17 Republicans running for president are skeptical about climate change caused by humans.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, is moving rapidly to exploit the Republican opposition by making climate change a central issue in her campaign. This week, she outlined a new proposal to install enough solar panels to power every home in the country. Clinton knocked Republican candidates who punt on the issue by claiming a lack of expertise.

A few problems with this article: 1) The most accurate temperature records, from satellites, show no evidence of heating since 1997. Similarly, Arctic and Antarctic ice levels are near an all time high

2) The idea that 38 per cent of registered voters care strongly about climate change must result from asking skewed questions. We know from many surveys that climate change barely makes it into the top 10 issues of concern for everyday Americans

3) The 97 per cent statistic has been shown to be totally concocted and, besides, who said that science was to be determined by consensus?

Of course, it is too much to expect that the Boston Globe do any reasonable analysis on the subject, given their partisan bias. They seem to be saying: ignore climate change and you will lose the election. Sounds like a faulty premise to me.

You have to call it climate change. If you call it what it really is, “pollution” you shut down China, the Middle East, Russia and you wipe out the entire petroleum and coal industry in the US.

Problem with that is, then no one makes any money. Call it global warming and you just created a cottage industry of monetary theft.
