Puerto Ricos economic crisis meant Jeffrey Rondon, 25, struggled to find even part-time work, so he recently joined the growing exodus from his Caribbean island to Florida. Now he holds a full-time restaurant job and something that could upend the 2016 presidential election the right to vote in Florida, the biggest of all swing states.
Its important to vote and be heard its a privilege, said Rondon, who is one of thousands of Puerto Ricans who have moved to Florida in the past year.

It’s like Moslems fleeing their homes and then wanting Sharia law.
When too many voters simply vote for handouts — it’s time to end the handouts.
Or end the voting.
Puerto Ricans used to go in big numbers to New York City. Now they are going to Florida?
Politically, more Puerto Ricans in New York would make no difference. But in a swing state such as Florida, they could make a big difference.
That is why we may have to bail those people out. to keep them in PR where they actually vote for the GOP related party instead of the GOP here.
one fifth of the population of some central American country.... in NOW in the USA
the invasion is nearly complete
In the case of Mexico, more than 25%.
Notice that few Central American from either Belize or Costa Rica come to the United States. In fact, the net flow, while tiny, is in the other direction. The reason is because both countries have long-term functional governments and economies.
Id like to see a breakdown....for el salbador...honduras etc...also...
when do the cuban boatlifts begin??
This is bad news alright, couple this with what Breitbart reports is going on in Virginia. Very negative.
“Everything Free in America!”
Actually 100% of Puerto Ricans are Americans you dumb ass.
Thanks for sharing
Most if not all of the people I know who have recently moved to the mainland from Puerto Rico (and there are many) will be voting Republican in 2016. They perfectly understand that the Democrat Party in the states is the equivalent of Puerto Rico’s Popular Democratic Party, whose policies caused them to move out in the first place. They’re painfully aware of this and this is a fact that must be reinforced by the GOP, especially in places like Florida, Texas, and all around Dixie, which is where most PRs are flocking to these days. Write them off as Democrats at your own peril.
Isn’t Puerto Rico an American commonwealth?
Yes but that fact escapes him.
Puerto Rico is neither Central American, nor a country. It is an island in the Carribean; it is certainly not in central America. Further, it is actually a territory of the US; Puerto Ricans can migrate anywhere in the US without any need to be processed as immigrants because they are natural born citizens of the US.
That’s why Puerto Rico would never be independent, the entire island would rather move to the US than give up US citizenship.
“Jeffrey Rondon, 25, struggled to find even part-time work, so he recently joined the growing exodus from his Caribbean island to Florida. Now he holds a full-time restaurant job”
This opening statement says it all. He came here because he WANTS TO WORK. The problem is the people who don’t want to work OR work for the government stay in PR. I do not see a problem in the fact that Jeffery Rondon wants to make a better life for himself. He is probably also bilingual. He bet he will be running that restaurant in another year.
I wasnt referring to CUBA.....
thanks
