Cruz has said he wants to increase it.
If Trump doesn’t get the nomination, he will surely jump third party. I don’t think he is in it to win but to cause mischief. The electorate has about a year and a few months to figure this out. Sure, he has said the same things a lot of us feel, but that doesn’t make him a good candidate. I don’t think he represents anyone but himself.

Not a chance. Bill Clinton is more of a Republican than Mitch, but Hilary is a flat-out communist.
Walker claims to be against gay marriage but his wife and sons are in favor of it.

Trump is performing a very useful service right now, and in his absence, *nobody* else would carry out this role.
On the Republican side, this primary race was intended to be no race at all. To start with, the tiny number of big money corporate backers had no intention of permitting a challenge to their anointed candidate.
Second, a lot of the candidates are not seriously running for the office, but for cabinet appointments by the winner. So they aren’t going to say or do anything that could cost them this job. Just mumble inanities.
Third, the anointed candidates are all about marginalizing conservatives, the rank and file of the party. This is the ‘Empire Strikes Back’ moment, open warfare by the anti-conservatives like the Chamber of Commerce.
But by forcing them into the light, making them say what they really think, Trump is putting them on record in ways increasingly hard to weasel out of later, when unless they get the votes of the defeated conservatives, they get nothing.
So we should give our full support to the Trump campaign, until what he is doing stops chasing the turkeys around the pen like a yapping dachshund.
Whether you love Trump or hate him, the “captain obvious” truth is that conservatives are sick and tired of Republican do-nothing-ism. As everyone has said, there is a LOT of anger by the conservative base toward the RNC.
This is why Trump is making traction among disaffected conservatives and independents (I believe). He stays on message and he fights back - he doesn’t spew the meaningless platitudes you hear over and over from most candidates. That is refreshing to a lot of people.
On the other hand, I agree that Trump has a lot of greys when it comes to several other issues that are also important to conservatives, such as abortion, traditional marriage, foreign policy, repealing socialized medicine, taxes, deficit spending, etc.
I don’t think the other candidates should bash Trump - that makes them look weak (at least to me it does).
I think they should agree with Trump on the border and immigration issue, but then go on to present what they would do to tackle the other major issues, like the economy, foreign policy (particularly Iran, but also China, Russia), reigning in federal spending - in other words, beat Trump at his own game by also being real with the American public about ALL these issues, and, do so with a combination of “in your face” truth, but also with a touch of humor and a positive outlook that all these issues can be dealt with - in other words - COMMUNICATE in a way that people get. That is what Trump has done.

Supporters and staffers regularly say critical thing against other candidates.
With Trump, and the new clipped-wing military (which it will take a decade to fix), The adage "Speak softly and carry a big stick" will have to be changed to "Carry a twig and wear a thin skin."
I think he's still the Democrat he always was, but even if he became Mr. Republican, Ted Cruz is Mr. Conservative.
There's a huge world of difference between the two.

No, but he was pro-choice at age 63, so you cannot call him "quick" or "perceptive" about things not pertaining to making money.
But if Trump wins the nomination, I will vote for him.
My comment was about how the relationship between the RNC and Trump has changed in the last few days. There are telltale signs that the friction has been reduced.
If Trump wins the nomination, he will own the RNC. If fact, he may own it much sooner.
But if Trump wins the nomination, I will vote for him.
My feeling exactly. However, i will add that Trump has a monstrous ego. I think he really wonders why he isn't polling at 100% - how could anyone think that anyone else is more qualified? When it gets closer to some kind of actual election, he may not be able to submit himself to a judgement by voters. His ego may not be able to accept that many folks will vote for someone else. In that case, he may feel forced to find a way to bow out.
And, if that happens, Cruz will be there to pick up the fumble and run with it.
If he comes off a knowledge and likeable, he's in it to the end.
As I have said elsewhere, there is only one candidate who can destroy Trump, and that is...Trump.
Yes, Cruz is my man, too.
But Trump? I’ll never cast a vote for him. The guy went on “Morning Joe” last week and pretty much admitted he’s a Democrat.
Then last night I found out about his Twitter attack on Michelle Malkin a couple of years ago. She pegged him as no conservative, and he called her “born stupid”, “a dummy”, and implied she had some dark shameful secret in her past. Some of his fangirls called her an Asian prostitute, and he didn’t say a word.
Now I understand that he’s not only a Democrat, but a piece of garbage with no character.
Hold your nose if you have to...
