DONALD TRUMP ENDORSES AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS [DISAPPOINTING, BUT NOT SURPRISING]
Frontpage Mag ^ | 07/26/2015 | Daniel Greenfield

Disappointing, but not surprising.

The depressing reality though that is that most of the Republican field has endorsed amnesty in one form or another. So this isn't much of a surprise. Trump is using his own vocabulary, but he's echoing the same amnesty talking points you could hear from Marco Rubio... or Barack Obama.

During Friday's interview, Trump said the U.S. should take a two-step approach to the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the country.

"Well, the first thing we do is take the bad ones — of which there are, unfortunately, quite a few," said Trump, who owns three New Jersey golf courses and once owned three Atlantic City casinos. "We take the bad ones and get 'em the hell out. We get 'em out."

But he said the country should take a different approach with "the other ones" — i.e., undocumented immigrants who have "done a good job" since arriving in the U.S.

"I'm a very big believer in the merit system," Trump said. "I have to tell you: Some of these people have been here, they've done a good job. You know, in some cases, sadly, they've been living under the shadows. ... If somebody's been outstanding, we try and work something out.

"But before we do anything, we have to secure the border because the border is like having no border," he added.

I'm sure some people will be tempted to cheer this, but compare it to Obama's own amnesty executive order.

These executive actions crack down on illegal immigration at the border, prioritize deporting felons not families, and require certain undocumented immigrants to pass a criminal background check and pay their fair share of taxes as they register to temporarily stay in the U.S. without fear of deportation.

Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration at the Border:  The President’s actions increase the chances that anyone attempting to cross the border illegally will be caught and sent back. Continuing the surge of resources that effectively reduced the number of unaccompanied children crossing the border illegally this summer, the President’s actions will also centralize border security command-and-control to continue to crack down on illegal immigration.

Deporting Felons, Not Families: The President’s actions focus on the deportation of people who threaten national security and public safety. He has directed immigration enforcement to place anyone suspected of terrorism, violent criminals, gang members, and recent border crossers at the top of the deportation priority list.

Deporting the "bad people" first is already an Obama talking point. People may think they can trust Trump, but not Obama or any of the Republicans, but like them, Trump frontloaded rhetoric about enforcement while keeping the amnesty out back.

And "secure the border first" has been the talking point of every Republican amnesty proponent.

Marco Rubio still supports legal status and a slow road to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, but now says the government must convince Americans the border is secure before taking those steps.

Trump had already indicated support for amnesty earlier, now he's being clearer about it.

This is in line with what CNN’s Chris Moody reported Trump saying during a press conference in Chicago at the end of June. When asked what he would do about the illegal immigrants already residing in the country once the border was secured, Trump replied, “give them a path,” according to Moody.

When The Daily Caller sought clarification at the time from the Trump campaign, a senior adviser replied with a circuitous answer that emphasized that Trump wanted to secure the border and didn’t believe in “amnesty,” but wouldn’t explicitly reject a pathway to legalization.

Nobody likes the A-word, including Rubio and Ryan who spent the better part of a year arguing that legalizing illegal aliens isn't amnesty if they have to pay a fine. Even Obama made that argument.

The next step would be to get Trump to lay out criteria for who gets to stay and how many of them it would apply to, but good luck getting an answer.

The RNC supports amnesty. They want the problem to go away just like gay marriage and abortion.

By Front Page’s definition of Amnesty... So does every other candidate. Oh but they forgot to mention that part! It would not help with their hit piece

Trump Position

1) Secure the border (unlike every candidate except Cruz that want Amnesty First)

2) Make Mexico build a wall (No other Candidate is saying this)

3) DEPORT.... all the criminal illegals (No other candidate is saying this)

4) The remaining should go through the normal process, and perhaps change the law to speed it up. (Again... No other candidate is saying that).

Wow the Walker, Rubio and Bush supporters seem VERY DESPERATE.....Just saying...

Trump is to Conservatives what 'Brobama' was to liberals. Just like 'Brobama' he is throwing red meat out and many conservatives are gobbling it up, but I assure you 5 minutes after he stepped into Oval Office all those promises would disappear as fast as they did with 'Brobama'.

I can't wait for the Youtube video which will be like the the one of the liberal black lady gushing over 'Brobama' and talking about him paying her rent and food and gas, but it will be some middle aged Tea Partier giddy over Trump saying:

"No more illegals and those here shipped back, and a secure wall will now be built and Mexico has to pay for it all!"

>>The US-VISIT system was authorized but never implemented in 1996. <<

I don’t know if the “US-VISIT” system would work, but it sounds like it’s on the books, which was my point. What we’ve been lacking is the will to do it, and as you pointed out, Bush43 was one of the worst for having that will...until Obama came along.

So we have the law, and we certainly have the technology. We just don’t have the executive will to put it all together.

One thing Obama’s accomplished, however. He’s shown just how much the executive can get done via executive orders. If that law is on the books, a determined President could probably do almost anything he wanted when implementing it, including sending the DOJ after those college administrators who keep losing track of their students.

LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS AN EVEN BIGGER DEAL. It is making the Dems the permanent majority party and changing our demographics forever.

“The RNC supports amnesty. They want the problem to go away just like gay marriage and abortion.”

EXACTLY - They call it “putting the problem behind them”. They do it by giving the Democrats EVERYTHING they want, and then promising to fight the next fight...until conceding that fight so as to get the next issue ‘behind them’, and so on and so on.

However, I very much doubt that Walker is the sort to put them ahead of those who’ve waited in line patiently to become citizens.

Citizenship is the cherry on top. The objective is to stay and work here. In fact, many don't want citizenship. There are 15 million green card holders who really don't want to be citizens. They get all the benefits of citizenship except the right to vote. They get Medicare, Medicaid, SS, food stamps, etc.

If “desperate” is watching things play out exactly as we thought they would when people started idolizing Donald Trump, then yes, we’re desperate all right.

On the other hand, I’d say that someone who calls an article pointing out Trump’s real stance on immigration (instead of the one he opened with and got all the adoring fans) a “hit piece” does sound at least a bit desperate.

You need to do a little reading on what happens when conservative candidates actually go after the Hispanic vote, rather than just writing it off. It’s really up for grabs among Hispanics who are already citizens.

Granted, a blanket amnesty could change that if granted by Obama, which is exactly what he’s trying to do, of course.

The optimist’s interpretation of this would be that Trump, having established that a hard line against the alien invasion is a winning position, is now taking a dive in favor of Ted Cruz, who can run a more overtly anti-invasion campaign.

We’ll let you do all the stewing and panty straightening. for us. You pretty well have all the media/GOP talking points down, aka whining.

Hey, if you’re satisfied with milquetoast and handkerchiefs, PC and ordinary, and all that serves your delicate taste on the issue of illegals, GO FOR IT.

Most of us here rather like the noise, the china breaking and the bed wetting regularly occurring in the GOP and media, all courtesy of Trump International.

We’ll ring you when he goes too far Left. It certainly is not now, that’s for sure, so don’t hold your breath.

Attrition thru enforcement. Why is it necessary to legalize their status. We can make life miserable for them like mandatory E-verify and going after employers who hire them, i.e., shut off the job magnet. We can end birthright citizenship so the 300,000 children who are born to illegal aliens are not eligible for benefits. Illegal immigration costs us $130 billion a year in education, welfare, and incarceration costs.

Jose Bush and Scott Walker are to the Left of Trump on this issue.

Walker is clearly stating legalizing all the immigrants here at the end of this video:

RE: Make Mexico build a wall (No other Candidate is saying this)

1) How does he propose to MAKE Mexico build the wall?

2) Even if he did, half of illegal immigrants arrive not on the banks of the Rio Grande but in the airports.

If we were electing a King/Emperor I would worry. If I sensed Trump would not enforce existing laws I would worry. In my opinion, Trump will probably evolve on amnesty as he gets more facts and input from voters; regardless, he will stop the bleeding first by securing border and enforcing current immigration laws...
