There won't be a federal-government shutdown this year, and Congress will work on a temporary spending measure in September, once lawmakers return from their summer recess, House Speaker John Boehner, said Thursday.
Democrats and Republicans have been unable to agree on annual spending bills, and without a deal by Sept. 30, the government will partially shut down. A temporary spending measure will be needed to avoid the Sept. 30 deadline, but details haven't been decided, Boehner said.

SOMEBODY NEEDS to KICK this ORANGE, WUSSY right in his NUTS(providing he has any(nuts)!
Thanx a lot Boner....
Forget It! He Doesn’t have Any!
He would shut down the government and b*tchslap anyone in the media who criticizes him for it.
Why the hell not? shut it down!! Pussy!!
Cave now and avoid the Christmas rush.
Sure there will.
We can do it now, in an organized, planned, sane, peaceful way.
Or we can wait for it to collapse in blood and fire ...
Navy, he doesn’t. So we will have to settle with kicking him in the knee and if that doesn’t get the message through then we may have to contact our friendly associate Luigi. He specializes in ball less persuasion.
Waving the white flag so everyone will know where he stands.
First order of business is a short term extension to mid-December, that way they can use the optics of poor little government children missing Christmas. This will make it much easier to give Obama, and the Democrats everything they want. Of course there won’t be any conservative wins in the bill.
OH, THANK GOD!
IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I WAS WORRIED ABOUT, IT WAS A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.
NOW I CAN BREATHE AGAIN! WHEW!
Trump looks like friggin’ George S. Patton compared to these guys.
Huge mistake. Sadly the GOP leadership makes this mistake every year. When they promise there won’t be a shutdown, the White House knows it can stand firm and refuse to compromise because they know that no matter what, the GOP will cave at the last minute to avoid a shutdown.
What the GOP should say is: We don’t want a shutdown, but whether there is a shutdown all depends on whether the President is willing to work with us and compromise and acknowledge the results of the last election.
Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.[Posted on 11/19/2013 12:16:51 PM by Third Person]
In truth, it would be Obama shutting down the government, or parts of it. Boehner, being the completely bought off, blackmailed, wussy fool that he is, will hide this fact. His statement announces his total surrender to Obama. Remember, Boehner targeted September as when they would reign in Obama. McConnell notified his surrender/compliance with the same statement the day after the historical landslide Republican victory last November, a victory that Boehner/McConnell nullified as quickly as they could.
Spare me the drama Bonehead.
After a while it is not even embarrassing caving in to wickedness especially when you are being stroked by the Devil. In fact, in Boehner’s case it has become a well paid pastime.
Trump needs to Hillary slap Boner right across his orange, tear stained cheek.
