Yes, I Would Vote for Donald Trump For President [But he won't be the Republican nominee]
Red State ^ | 07/23/2015 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 07/23/2015 9:30:39 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The conversation about Donald Trump is very refreshing. Let’s be honest about it. It is really refreshing to see the establishment go into hysterical, pile-on mode. I’m actually proud of Rick Perry for being bold in his statements. Perry is owning the anti-Trump issue and he’s making it about principle and issues. But the number of denouncements from pundits and the press have gotten to crazy levels. And now the establishment that hates Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% is piling on him too for daring not to pile on.

But it gets better. Donors and consultants are ganging up to try to get the candidates to all unite and gang up against Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is a non-traditional candidate who is running a non-traditional campaign and kicking the asses of traditional campaign consultants. They do not like that he is taking advantage of the system they created. I’ve been critical of Trump. I’ve reminded people that Trump has been a Democrat donor with Democrat positions on healthcare, abortion, immigration, etc. I wish Donald Trump could go a news cycle without making news. The media is fixated on Trump in the same way the media fixates on the one guy with a confederate flag at a tea party rally as if that guy represents the whole movement.

But here’s the thing. The Establishment always tells conservatives they need to vote for the nominee. They ridicule conservatives as taking their football and going home if they don’t get their way.

Well, I’m not voting for Donald Trump in the Georgia primary. I don’t think he’ll even be in the race by that point. But I would support him were he the nominee. That the establishment guys won’t is deeply hilarious to watch after years of them lecturing all of us about not taking our football home. The meltdown is delightful to watch and after years of putting up with pompous, preening members of the Establishment telling conservatives they have to suck it up, it is wonderful to be reminded that the Establishment is incapable of sucking it up.

If they just waited, Trump would fade. But everything they do generates new attention for Trump and emboldens him and his supporters. They just do not know what to do with Trump and the truth is that they set up the system Trump is benefiting from. The Establishment expects the conservative base to stay quiet when we disagree with them, but by God they want to scream the rooftops when they disagree with us. We’re hobbits, cave dwellers, crazies, etc.

There’s also something else that needs to be said here: Trump won’t be the Republican nominee. And those who are on his team in the primary may very well sit it out. There should be no crying in primaries, as in baseball. If I don’t get my guy, I still support the nominee (except John Kasich who has less of a chance than Trump so it doesn’t matter). Those of you who’ve made Trump your cause are really doing so because he is throwing punches you think need to be thrown. Just don’t delude yourself. Donald Trump is ultimately about Donald Trump. He was for immigration and universal healthcare and Hillary Clinton before he was against them. He’s saying a lot of awesome stuff, but there is no guarantee he won’t change. Don’t let your hatred of the Establishment and feeling that you’ve been played get you played again by someone who only a few years ago was on CNN identifying as a Democrat.

I will vote for the nominee. It will not be Donald Trump. That’s just the truth. And you should be prepared for that reality. But I would vote for him if something happened and he became the nominee.

What’s so delightful here is that we have a ton of Establishment guys declaring that they’ll never, ever vote for Donald Trump. It is all deeply funny to watch — and way past time to see it.

I love Campaign 2016 so much I wonder if Anthony Kennedy would let me marry it. And I bet I can find 300 Republican operatives to sign an amicus brief supporting me!

If the GOP conspires to keep Trump out of the debates in violation of their own rules then I will vote for Trump whether or not he ends up as the GOP nominee.

The old farts from the GOPee are not entitled to my vote!

The GOP Establishment will push Trump until he runs as an Independent Third Party Candidate. They are too stupid and proud to leave the guy alone and let this thing play out. Why? One might ask. It’s because they’d rather have Hillary in the White House than Trump.

I’m sure many were equally pessimistic about Reagan in ‘79.

I’ve reminded people that Trump has been a Democrat donor with Democrat positions

Eric Erickson fails to mention Trump is a buyer and he cannot be bought by special interests. As a wealthy business man you better pay off both sides of the aisle. This is what scares the GOPe, Trump can't be "influenced" by the GOPe's special interests they were bought with.

And that is exactly how the left behaves to force compliance with their ideals.

These scumbags would go to the gestapo to express their concerns that Herr Cruz wasn't saluting der fuhrer with appropriate enthusiasm.

Trump is the Happy Gilmore of politics and that's not a put down. If you have seen that Adam Sandler movie a hockey player broke onto the PGA circuit (GOP primary) with the gift of the long drive. His uncouth ways let to many not interested in the PGA (politics) flocking to the PGA (politics) for the first time. In politics my wife has never taken an interest in the primary, but she loves here Donald. The PGA saw massive ratings increases and in the end Happy won the Green Jacket and the girl. Will Donald win the Green jacket? He deserves it more the 75 percent of the people running.

Anyone who supported Obama in 2008 will never be able to shed the RINO tag. Trump is a RINO. Trump is not to be trusted.

I’d love to see a Jeb-Hillary-Trump poll.

I think this kind of poll is coming.

Right, but Reagan and also served as Governor of the nation’s most populous state. There was at least an underlying knowledge of Reagan’s ability to govern.

Erickson is talking out his rear.

Erickson is not a deep thinker.

Hey Genius, say it was between Bush and Trump, you would vote for Bush? He would likely say yes. That's all you need to know about the "deep thinker" Erickson.

Trump is shaking up the evil GOPe. I want to see the GOPe politically destroyed.
