Last months DART train shooting that left two men wounded was sparked a month earlier by a cigarette lighter, authorities say.
Patrick Klaypenh told police the dispute began after he got off a train early May 10 at the LBJ-Skillman Station and was approached by Curtis Langrum, who asked if he could borrow Klaypenhs lighter. Langrum and Klaypenh then started to verbally argue about how (Langrum) disrespected (Klaypenh) about borrowing the lighter, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. DART Police have said the two are in rival gangs.
Still, the two walked away after the argument, police said.
But the next night, while Klaypenh was on a train talking to a woman, Langrum ran up to him and stabbed him in the neck and the top of the head before he ran away, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Klaypenh needed 15 sutures for both cuts and spent two days in the intensive care unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, police said.
The two crossed paths again June 5 on a DART Red Line train that had just left 8th and Corinth Station.
Police say the two men saw each other and charged toward each other. Klaypenh had a gun, and Langrum had a knife, police said. Klaypenh shot Langrum and an innocent bystander. Both were hospitalized.
Klaypenh got away but was arrested three days later.
During an interview with a DART detective, Klaypenh said Langrum had already tried to kill him once and that he wasnt going to let (Langrum) try again.
Both Klaypenh and Langrum remain in Dallas County jail.

For some reason, I feel these dudes never enrolled in Obamacare.
I was thinking Mortuary care.
“Both Klaypenh and Langrum remain in Dallas County jail.”
Just put them in the same cell.
For those not familiar with Dallas, the station in question is in a really bad area, with the police headquarters the next station to the north (Cedars), and the zoo the next station to the south. Both the Zoo and Cedars are generally OK during daylight; 8th and Corinth is universally bad.
If Obama had two sons.
These guys claiming they were “disrespected” ... they always resemble the guys I see on the street, black or white, that make my hand make its way close to my holster thumb snap.
Maybe they might work on attitude, work ethic, education? ... heh. Yeah, right.
These are the types of guys who will carry pistols regardless of gun laws, criminal records, whatever.
And if we don’t practice situational awareness and protect ourselves, we’re at their mercy when we glance at them and they, as predators, sense our weakness, then come up to us claiming we disrespected them.

How in the hell can you “disrespect” someone asking for a light?
Another of those words that has been bastardized by Rap culture.
Maybe he was insulted, but how can he be disrespected by someone he didn’t know? To disrespect someone you have to respect them first.
Then on top of that your answer to the insult is stab the guy in the neck? How about you just duke it out on the platform right then?
No this is why CWII will be very short. These ferals are too chicken$hit to fight without a weapon in their hands, and then they can’t use the weapons correctly.
Idiots, both.
“Hey...you disrespectin’ me? Take him out. (You gotta keep ‘em separated)”
Well said.
Nice “Offspring” reference!!
You know why he "disrespected" you? Because you're not respectable...bich!
You be dis’n my Bic, mofu??? /snort
Laws of the jungle.
from the look of them, which one has the higher IQ?
How high, considering 85 is the average for blacks. Those two look below average.
