the Republicans can consider themselves to be all but finished. And Trump will be the avatar of a yet-defined new movement. A metamorphosis will have occurred. We will have entered a new phase of our American condition from which there will be no turning back.

What's not to like?

This guy is acting like the Nietzsche type “new man” and global borderless nonsense are different things vs the same thing, and that is a mistake, they are both Randian Libertarianism.

People who think they are “libertarians” in general are generally just freedom loving Americans who are sick of open borders and globalist B.S.

We totally need to avoid the apocalypse of the former which is why we are rebelling.

If Trump is still riding high in the Republican polling say in a month or so from now, the Republicans can consider themselves to be all but finished. And Trump will be the avatar of a yet-defined new movement. A metamorphosis will have occurred. We will have entered a new phase of our American condition from which there will be no turning back.

The writer might be correct in his conclusions, but he went through some convoluted reasoning to arrive at the conclusion.

Those who respond positively to Trump are not confused. They knew how often they've been lied to in the past and how the present Republican majority they helped elect in Congress has done the opposite of what they promised during their campaigns. They see critical problems in the country and Trump is the only one who will address the problems honestly.

If candidates won't even talk about a problem honestly, they damned sure won't do anything about it.

Is Trump really working for a hillary (I'd never capitalize her name) presidency?

There are a few of you saying that today. Is it your talking point?

It makes so little sense that it's a laughable suggestion. If Trump wanted hillary to win, he wouldn't be destroying Jeb's coronation. Jeb can't win. A whole lot of real conservatives won't even consider voting for Jeb. A primary reason is Terri Schiavo, but add to that just about everything Jeb stands for.

“If candidates won’t even talk about a problem honestly, they damned sure won’t do anything about it.”

That pretty much sums it up.

“Now the left knows how easy it is to fool the right, they can have anyone say a few things to “stand up to the media,” and they will vote for anyone, no matter how against their agenda he is.”

I can only assume that you would include Jim Robinson in your little diatribe?

If Cruz was about action he would have written and even sterner letter, and held even more hearings...In all seriousness, I like Cruz, but he still plays the game with the GOPe, if he isn’t one of them. Has he filed articles of impeachment? Why not? Is he afraid it would upset the GOPe? Does he think that voters might not like him? Is he scared to use the one true check he has over the lawless executive branch?

-or-

Does he fail to act because he actually is ok with what Obama is doing?

As far as “social conservative” nonsense goes, I don’t like either the democrats or the republicans telling me what is socially acceptable.

Gay marriage - nonsense. Marriage is a religious institution that the government has no business endorsing or failing to give license to in the first place. The government has no business treating anyone differently because the took part in a religious service. I think Alabama has taken action toward this approach. Further, your your church wants to marry people of the same sex, the government should stay out of it.

Worth Repeating!

“A big part of Trump's surging popularity is because he extends a middle finger to self-congratulatory establishment scribes like this.”

Sure he does, because you say so, right?

However, over in what we like to call reality, Cruz is the only Senator that has routinely thrown monkey wrenches in the plans of the GOP Establishment, while your guy Trump has mostly gone along with the Establishment, including Universal Healthcare, Abortion, and Gay Marriage.

Sadly Americans have had enough of the same-old, same-old

Why "sadly"?

It's a damned good thing we've had enough of it.

Certainly not a sad thing.

What's wrong with you?

L’étendard sanglant est levé
Entendez-vous dans nos campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras.
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!

Really?

Have you ever read the 10th Amendment?

Do you really think the founders, you know, the guys that actually created this form of government we enjoy would agree with your position?

But Cruz would legalize 30 million illegals in our country currently.

So would every other POTUS candidate out there, including Trump.

I don't agree with that, but that is what it is.

At least Cruz will not give them citizenship.

FYI, Articles of impeachment have to begin in the house, not the Senate.

Then why are you here?

FreeRepublic isn't a Libertarian site, it is a God-Fearing Conservative site in the words of Jim Robinson.

BTW, how many of the POTUS candidates have a Immigration Policy Position list like Cruz's:

1. Oppose Amnesty - OPPOSE offering the officially estimated 11 million people illegally in the U.S. long-term work permits and/or a path to citizenship (whether through a blanket amnesty or an "earned legalization" or other form)

2. Attrition through Enforcement - fund an Attrition Through Enforcement campaign to cause illegal aliens to self-repatriate back to their home countries over time

3. Mandate E-Verify - jobs held by illegal aliens be opened up for unemployed Americans and legal immigrants already here by requiring all businesses to use the Federal automated, rapid-response internet system (E-Verify) to screen out illegal foreign workers

4. Assist Local Police - federal government be required to cooperate with local officials and pick up all illegal aliens detained by local law enforcement

5. Defund Sanctuary Cities - reduce funding to state and local governments that adopt sanctuary policies and other rewards for illegal foreign workers and the companies that hire them

6. Fund Entry/Exit System - fully fund the completion of the entry/exit system at all borders and points of entry in which every person entering and leaving the U.S. is logged into a database which would notify law enforcement, businesses and others when a foreign tourist, student, worker or other fails to leave on-time? *(US-VISIT was approved by Congress in 1996 and has never been sufficiently funded and is largely incomplete.)

7. Border Security - fund and provide oversight for the full implementation of border security measures already signed into law

8. End Birthright Citizenship - move the U.S. in line with most other nations and stop the policy of giving automatic citizenship at birth to children when both parents are illegal aliens?

9. End Chain Migration - implement the bi-partisan, national Jordan Commission recommendation to limit family-based immigration to the nuclear family of spouse and minor children, thus eliminating the "chain migration" categories of extended family that are the key reason immigration has quadrupled since the 1960s

10. End Visa Lotteries - institute safeguards that will prevent importation of foreign workers any time they would threaten the jobs or depress the wages of American workers

11. Reduce Total Immigration - Until 1976, U.S. immigration tradition was an average of around 250,000 a year; since new legislation in 1990, it has averaged 1,000,000 a year. More than 38 million foreign workers and dependents now live in the U.S. At current rates, immigration will add more than 100 million additional people to the U.S. population by 2060. This government-forced rapid population expansion will require huge increases in energy, roads and other infrastructure and services.

Amd X: Powers not delegated to the United States by the constitution are reserved to the States or to the People. - paraphrased from memory

Yep, Alabama’s approach seems perfectly constitutional to me. Alabama is asserting its right to keep government out of the religious institution of marriage. The United States Government has no authority to define marriage, either including or excluding gays.

Maybe I’m a God-fearing conservative, that doesn’t like the federal government defining religious practices.

Are you a conservative first or a republican first?
